Has to be said that the upgrades are a little disappointing, still behind McLaren is not good(even though this circuit suits very well). S1 was slow, not sure how much of that is due to tyre temp issues or just lack of pace.

Not the result I was expecting today, a bit disappointed, S1 was pants, too much wing?
Anyway, no pain no gain.
Give them time to understand the updates and then we'll see.
Will be P3 for Lec after Oscars penalty at least and will hope race pace is good tomorrow.

So do we have any hope for tomorrow? Ferrari running mediums in q1 seems to suggest they have a different strategy in mind, right?

Max got huge tow from Hulk in S1, explains some of the deficit(Marko estimated it as 2 tenths).

Leclerc was more than .3 behind Max after S1 and finished .224
Still that "can't get the tires into temp in the first part of the lap" or something else?

Poor as expected when hearing them saying this package was planned before seeing car on track so not addressing actual issues. 2025 car will achieve that. Or even better let's focus on new rules coming in 26. A lot of talks for a little result not much differently than under Binotto's direction. But hey they are selling a huge lot of SUVs to the Saudis.

Thoughts are 1 stop. Ferrari have 1 new set of Mediums and Hard, I think. Probably start on the Medium. Hopefully Norris can mess up Max with an Undercut and Charles can go long.

Problems in 2025 will be different when they make fixes for today's problem. :D. Wasn't this concept supposed to have a lot of development potential ?

If I counted correctly, they will have an extra new soft for tomorrow, since every Q3 car gets an extra q3 set of softs that gets returned after. They should try and use it in 1st stint, track is low deg, the car is low deg and they have used two-piece beam wing. -3kmh on main straight v McLaren and -9kmh v Max with Hulk's tow. Not sure why they are still running so conservatively, but it is what it is, maybe they did not expect the track will get so much quicker after FP2

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Disappointment. That's the only word to sum up today's performance.

McLaren has evolved and now they have a car with performance on par with Red Bull. And even with the updates, Ferrari is still as far behind McLaren as it was in Miami without them. The race tomorrow will confirm this.

The worst thing is seeing Ferrari's performance in free practice, in Q1 and Q2, giving a lot of hope of getting a strong position for the race. Then in Q3, falls behind the McLarens...

Tomorrow, P4 is victory. Unless something happens with Verstappen, Piastri and Norris, Ferrari's podium chances are in the single digits.

The work done from now to Quali will be crucial.
Also it's likely the rain will kill our chances. The car was terrible in China in mixed conditions.
As usual the competition did a much better job through the weekend. Leclerc almost 0.3s quicker than Sainz and only P4. Not good.

Max got a mega slipstream from Hulk.
330km/h Charles, 332 Oscar and 340 Max, its huge.
But being slower than McLaren is frustrating.

Given how Ferrari looked 2023. This is huge improvement. :D

Q1 and Q2 were just showboating. Ferrari is not serious about racing.
