Trying to find a low speed setup that works?DragonSGC wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 15:12Does anyone know why McLaren are running the test programme where they do constant speedaps and then scrub the front tyres by being overly aggressive with the steering angle around corners? I recall them doing it last year.
Thing is last year they did it around this time too but had mostly ticked off all the other things and were just waiting for cooler conditions to do some quali work. Now it feels because of the brake issue it's all that the team can do at the moment.
Lando just done it again, very quick outlap to bring the brakes up to temp then constant speed flying lap to measure how quickly they cool down.
Yeah, agreed. I don't think they are worried about performance. They are worried that they didn't test out the car well (tick all the boxes).Xero wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 15:23Lando just done it again, very quick outlap to bring the brakes up to temp then constant speed flying lap to measure how quickly they cool down.
Seidl just confirmed the new brake ducts are only a half solution, full solution coming next week. Sounds confident about fixing it, and about being competitive, but understandably frustrated.
All well and good to bring a radical car but let's not forget how many races the MP4-18 actually started.... 0Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 14:52I know radicallity doesn't mean a fast car but I am missing the days when Mclaren brought a radical car like the MP4-18 for example and everyone is like oooohhh. I want to see these days back again where Mclaren is the cream of the crop.
Why not? Everything to gain and nothing to looserunningmanz wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 16:15Wow Otmar just said Piastri would be available if Ricciardo is not well enough to race.
Not enough time to get it ready for this test?Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 16:21How come Mclaren decided to bring the big upgrade in Race 1 than test it here?
