Massa and Hulk fighting for pole. Given the late refusal from Ferrari to Hulk, I think Massa may be 0.3 seconds ahead... But let's see.
Are they going to retain Grojean because of TOTAL's money?

Lotus should take Massa AND Hulk in my view .
Massa could grow to his former strength with a fresh start and Hulk is just too good to let go as an opportunity.I think those two combined would make for a formidable pairing of alaround nice blokes with speed and team spirit -honest and free of behind the back activity ...this is a really attractive prospect.
And possibly Massa could lure Smedley back to England ? rob has a desire to be involved in Development so maybe in the lotus context he could give his career a new twist?

Don't get me wrong, I like Felipe and his nice guy appeal. But why should Massa get a peachy seat at a mid to front running team when you have Felix Da Costa, Carlos Sainz Jr and Kevin Magnussen all worth a go over Massa?
Not to mention Kamui Kobayashi who isn't involved in F1 currently....or Alguesari(underrated IMO).
Massa had a good innings, almost won a WDC and gave Alonso a good go when he was up to speed. The problem is inconsistency. Massa just isn't consistent enough, and with his experience he should be getting better results.

If he get's the Lotus seat, I won't be unhappy as he is the all round nice guy. But in terms of drivers, I think there are a half dozen out there who deserve a fair crack at the whip over him.

Why would any team hire Massa after the last 3 dismal years?

I dont know who Leo Turuni is but obviously he is close to Ferrari. Excellent read. Use translator if necessary.

Thanks for that link! =D>

No, they will need much more than that to fill the budget hole they created by overpaying Raikkonen for safe collecting points and ruining the team financially (not to mention lack of result).

It's going to be another clueless change for the worse. Funniest thing would be if they hire overrated Hulkenberg and Sauber turns out to be a similar or better car.

Of course there are two camps at Red Bull. Everyone with half a brain cell can see that.

If Ricciardo was good enough and everyone was happy then he would have been signed months ago and it would have been done with a little bit of fanfare - not at 9:30 at night. As it is, Ricciardo is in there to justify Marko's expensive driver programme that has produced no results and he is going to get utterly destroyed next year in the face of the opposition he faces and the new technical challenges. His results and points haul over the past two seasons, certainly against his team mate, point to absolutely nothing spectacular and raises some pretty serious question marks about his races. The usual suspects on this thread go very quiet when you point that out......

Horner and Newey both know this which is why they wanted someone else. It's as simple as that, and no, you don't have to be an 'insider' to see it. Anyone who doesn't is just making wishes.

Seriously, do you not realise how wrong that is?

Yes it appears they paid Raikkonen more than they could afford. The blame for that lies with Lotus not Raikkonen.

I'm not sure how their best performance for many years can be called a lack of results???

Because in 2014 car/engine development will be key. Who do you want in your F1 car? A qualified driver, with 11 years of experience, or a rookie from GP2/FR3.5? All those guys will probably have more pace, but that's about it. And I thought Massa was quite a good test-driver?

Without results, no sponsors and no constructors' money. That's how most teams end up in a perpetual cycle of paying drivers who don't bring in results.................. I suppose I just fail to understand peoples' issues around here. Supporting a driver a bit zealously I can understand. Trying to denigrate a driver who is clearly bringing in the results is quite another.

I'd downvote that if I could. You have got to be joking. Sure, it is opinions, but wow. As far as Hulk goes, I'd rate him the same as Nico Rosberg. He would be a very good choice. I'd get rid of Grossjean, although the team may not be able to dump Total.

If you look at the last race, Massa most likely could have performed better. It looked like he purposely slowed to hold up Webber. He basically helped Alonso out as much as possible so Ferrari could get a result. Ferrari is changing their one man approach and going with a team constructors championship effort. They preach it, but now it looks like they mean it. They have to in order to fight Red Bull and Mercedes.
