And leadership: Brown & Seidl.godlameroso wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 17:40McLaren with a Mercedes lump might be more attractive than Renault.
All I am saying is that from 1950 till 2006 they operated with all these factors. Why remove all that competition?diffuser wrote: ↑10 May 2020, 19:41It isn't a charity but it isn't a sport either. It really hasn't been a sport except for a hand full of seasons. I think a CAP needs to be put in place.Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑10 May 2020, 18:10Personally I am against customer cars that copy main teams. F1 is not a charity. Either you have the money to compete making something yourself and reach the top or do not compete at all. It bothers me that they removed a lot of the tests between races and before the season starts, the refueling during a race, the many tyre manufacturers and the other engine manufacturers. It also bothers me that they removed so many iconic races.
I'm not sure what you mean by customer teams ..is STR a customer team ?
I think all teams should design they're own chassis. PU and transmission is optional. Everything beyond that should not be allowed (I presume this is the customer car category?). They should drop the cap to whatever it has to be so that everyone can do that.
Well they're trying to cut costs, removing the tests was one way. not sure why that bothers you .... it really helped the richer teams anyways... Anything you allow a F1 team to do, will always help the richer teams, simply cause they can always do more in the same time frame. The #1 priority to better racing is a cap.
Too many refuelling accidents plus it was really expensive to pay for all the rigging to speed up the process. I don't think anyone would disagree with a return to refuelling if they standardised the equipment and it could be done safely.
They multi-tyre thing is a different deal. I think we're better off with one supplier. Cause with one supplier everyone uses the same tyres. With a Multi supplier scenario you have to also govern the tyre manufactures. Who is spending more are, they targeting 1 f1 team, stuff like that. is it motor sport or tyre sport? Don't think it added anything to the spectacle.
Every driver on the grid, maybe even HAM, would take a seat in Ferrari if its open....of he moves i dont think any less of him or the Mcl project...Macklaren wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 19:57Max Verstappen just said at an event that RIC was NOT going to Ferrari. Looks like it is Carlos then. I can see why he would want to do it (Ferrari name + going head to head with Max again potentially fighting for wins) but a touch disappointed that he is effectively OK being a #2 driver and doesn't believe in the Mclaren project.
Nope. He already chose Mercedes over Ferrari.EddyBaggio wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 20:29Every driver on the grid, maybe even HAM, would take a seat in Ferrari if its open....of he moves i dont think any less of him or the Mcl project...Macklaren wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 19:57Max Verstappen just said at an event that RIC was NOT going to Ferrari. I think McLaren would rather have Vettel or Ricciardo though but I don't think those two are any better than Sainz, just more marketable. Not a fan of Vettel at all but I would understand if McLaren wanted him. Norris might get the boot. Yes he's a rookie and performed well but this is a ruthless business and I'm sure McLaren would rather have Sainz and Ricciardo or Vettel than Norris.
Or something completely different might happen. Looking forward to see what happens!
yes I think Mclaren will shine especially with the upcoming budget cap, Mercedes engine, James Key and new leadership in place. Renault on the other hand will have zero engine customers for next year which will definately hurt them. So yes i think Mclaren will be the better team than Renault in the future. Time will tellgodlameroso wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 17:40McLaren with a Mercedes lump might be more attractive than Renault.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t it been reported that Norris signed a 3 year deal when he renewed last year?McG wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 02:45If Sainz goes to Ferrari I'll be sad to see him go. The 'problem' (perceived if not actual) is that he gets yips when he is in a best position. Several times he (seems) to have been in a position to cash in and has muffed it. He is a very good driver in general and would be ideal for Mclaren except they need someone there to snatch the glory spots when they come up. I would go Ricciardo.diffuser wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 04:35McG wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 02:45If Sainz goes to Ferrari I'll be sad to see him go. McLaren aren't going to challenge the top 3 in the next couple of years so they can make it without a super star drive. They need solid drives. Hulk is good enough for me. I wouldn't spend big bucks going after a big name now. When you show your car can go... They line up to come to McLaren like it's some kind of ritual!
I agree, if you’re going to have a Hulk, you’ll need a Ricciardo/Vettel level driver beside him. He’s really not a nbr 1 driver.Big Tea wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 11:11The 'problem' (perceived if not actual) is that he gets yips when he is in a best position. I personally would go for Ricciardo, but Vettel will make me happy as well. Both are upgrades for McLaren in my opinion and it would also show how good Norris really is in his third year.Big Tea wrote: ↑13 May 2020, 11:11The 'problem' (perceived if not actual) is that he gets yips when he is in a best position.
