Hamilton ditching his manager does start to make sense about why he delayed finalising his contract extension. Would any of us want to have someone negotiating on our behalf when you actually wanted to give them the boot?

Hamilton's case makes sense the way you put it. Ericsson to Sauber does this mean no Sutil or bye bye Telmex?

YOu can't go making sense in the silly season thread..!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

If it was only about renewing contract that would have happen earlier, the fact Ham changes his management on the middle of negotations it is a bit suspicious IMO
But will see this is F1 and everything could happen
Dont trust Marca they are absolutely ridiculous.

Hamilton is not moving from Mercedes, he has the car and the team, he can win this title and the next one easily. And with three titles on his hands he could switch to Mclaren and (try to) win a WC with Honda like Senna did. But he is young enough to do it in 2016. Any change would be very risky and precipitated.

Alonso to Mclaren for no more than two years, a little bit risky but the has no more real options. I think he deserves another title before he retires but he is not the best one taking the appropriate decisions in the appropriate moment.

More and more people are stating that Alonso will be with Mclaren Honda next year with the Dane. There was a hold up because of lenght of contract but they settled on two years rather than the three + one years.

And about the rumors about the Honda PU is behind and having problems.Mclaren stated it was funny all those rumors where coming from Italy. No worries about the Honda PU.

Finally some sense. This was clearly a problem with length of contract for Alonso/McLaren and maybe, as he's probably more a Honda employee than McLaren, something to do with Alonso/Honda agreements that they can walk from McLaren to supply another team (RB :-" ) if the cars no good.

Telmex leaving Sauber in my mind makes sense I wouldn't continue to fund Gutierrez he's mediocre he keeps driving like a rookie... He's taking funds that could go to backing Perez..

Esteban had 2 seasons to prove himself and he hasn't impressed at all. But if Sauber signs V/D Garde that would be one of the worst line-ups in F1 history. Bianchi's crash has been really unfortunate because I think Ferrari would have put Jules in that seat for next year. 1 quick driver and one paydriver is the way to go for Sauber. But two paydrivers will be detrimental to the teams performance next year.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

Its been a sad decent for Sauber.

In 2012 they had 2 drivers there on talent and were scoring podiums. In 2013 they had 1 driver there on talent and 1 paydriver. The car wasn't all there but when Sauber unlocked some performance towards the end of the season Hulkenburg turned in fantastic performances. In 2014 Sauber has 1 driver who is half there on talent and half because he brings money, and 1 paydriver. If they now go to 2 outright paydrivers...

Even Marussia and Caterham avoided such a weak lineup. It signals that Sauber is solely and desperately focused on survival, and the limit of their ambitions is being alive at the end of 2015.

Indeed. Sauber's immense decline in only 2 years has been almost tragic to watch. On the flip side, you have a team like Mercedes, who at the end of 2012 (believe it or not) had a significantly worse car than Sauber. Now look at where each team is at.

It seems Alonso has signed for McLaren - Motorsport.com:

"Multiple authoritative sources are reporting that the Spaniard is definitely headed to McLaren-Honda, on an initial two-year deal to be Danish youngster Kevin Magnussen's teammate."

With that in mind, how good is he in devolping a car and providing engineers direction for development compared to just drive whatever he is given very well ??
