Its that useless tramp Blatter that is the whole reason for the problem, its not the referees.

FIFA introduce new laws for the world cup, instead of testing them in a smaller competition! Pure stupidity.

Then whenever referees do use their common sense and referee a match with their judgement instead of FIFAs stupid directives they get a bollocking for it.

Yesterday I saw a part of the match of England....again they weren't playing that good  ! Franck De Bleeckere, the Belgian referee, did well though!

I hope Italy wins today, but it won't be an easy match because Australia is playing well!
I thought England played pretty well tbh. Not good enough to win the world cup no, but good none-the-less. Okay we had a hiccup here and there, but really Ecuador didn't ask us many questions as they couldn't get through our defense (with the exceptions of those one or two jiccups I mentioned earlier) however Ashley Cole made a fantasic tackle to put a shot onto the cross bar (a shot which arguably had Paul Robinson beaten)

With regards to attack, we made some great moves, Rooney seemed to be getting bak to fitness, and some of our attacking was really good, what was NOT good however was the amount of shots that we missed after making those attacks! Especially for Lampard, I like Lamps, but he's gotta raise his game if he's gonna keep his place in the squad.

In conclusion, good play, but our end product and finishing was somewhat lacking....Kind of like the dutch last night actually. I thought they played well, making many chances, but not putting those chances in the back of the net.

Just a foot note: Becks scored another great Free-Kick and in doing so has become the first englishman ever to score in three world cups.

So we meet again Spencifer....
Sorry fr the double post! (Knew I forgot something when I posted the last one!)

Yes Monstro, England meet Portugal in the quarter finals again...revenge this time maybe?

Another little coincidence...Sven meets Scolari again the the world cup quarter finals.

This doesn't bode too well for us does it? 4 years ago we were put out by the team managed by Phil Scolari, who now manages the team we lost to 2years ago in the quarter finals.

Humm....Double revenge? It would be sweet. lol

I know it's dire isnt it!

But I said earlier, 40years of hurt will come to an end. last time we beat Portugal in the World Cup we won it! Surely thats a good omen isn't it? (as long as we win of course! )

Gutted for the Aussies, losing to a penalty given for a dive in the 94th minute!

I'm an Italy fan and I'm glad that they are still in the World Cup, but I also believe it wasn't a penalty. The referees at the WC have shown that we lack good referees. We miss people like Colina!
It's not because I'm Belgian that I'm going to say the this, but Franck De Bleeckere has done a great job! He's one of the best referees during this World Cup!

I agree with you there Principessa, the refereeing has been the biggest let down of the tournament. Did you see that guy who gave the same player three yellow crads before he got sent off? There have been some shocking decisions. What has happened to Colina anyway? Is he too busy doing advertisments to ref these days?

When a referee turns I think it is 42 or 45 they can't whistle on international level anymore and Colina reached that age. He was still referee in Italy, but when the scandal came out only a few weeks ago, he was accused to have known about it. Colina retired because he didn't want to be in a world of corruption anymore.

ive been saying that we dont have quality refs for a while now and given that i wanted both italy and australia to go through it was a bit tough to swallow. ALSO that straight red card on the italian defender was a bit harsh to..

just remember that to ref a game at this leval cannot be that easy.
COLINA the best ref by a mile....

in the swi-ucr match the ref was much more chilled, letting them "play" and without many yellow cards

The refs have been unbelieveably inconsistent.

Graham Poll (usually an exceptional ref) was the ref who gave 3yellow cards t the same player. A startling mistake.

However I think the worst referrring of the tornament has come from the Portugal vs Holland match. The challenge on Christiano Ronaldo has got to be one of the most disgusting tackles I've seen this tournament, he was so far from the ball im in half a mind that it was deliberate. Yet it only recieves a yellow card, Figo headbutts another player, the ref didnt see it, in that case theres no card and FIFA have to deal with it OR the assistant ref's have to pip up (there's 5 officials ONE of them HAD to have seen it) in which case a red should be issued. There's no yellow about it! Incredibly stupid.

Yet in the same match Deco was given a yellow for retaliating, yet the dutch player who started the violence gets nothing. Then Deco recieves a second yellow for not giving the ball to a player who is physically harrassing him for it (don't blame him to be honest) after being physically thrown to the ground however the offending player gets...yup nothing.

I've never seen such inconsistency from one ref in the same match. Absolutely disgusting.

The problem now isn't just poor referee's, its the fact that np player respects the ref, in order to establish his superiority on the pitch they then become card happy. Pierluigi Collina never had to do that because the players had respect for him.

Oh, gutted for the aussie's too. To go out in the 94th min by way of a penalty that should never have been given.
