Car looks fantastic. Hoping for a competitive season from the team, but not expecting miracles this year. 2026 will be our year.

Gotta say I’m really impressed with Merc. I didn’t expect their car to look so drastically different and to have what seems to be such big changes. Really impressed, and looking forward to seeing what Kimi can do. This team is the dark horse in 2025.
Watching F1 since 1986.

Mirror
- George Russell admits the idea of Mercedes competing for title glory this season is "quite a stretch".
"I've definitely got some first impressions, which I'll keep to myself for now," Russell, 27, said. "It's important not to jump to any conclusions because we know from last year, circuit to circuit, the performance fluctuations were massive from all of the teams. From what I feel so far, I'm happy."

"You always say you want to fight for a championship but, being realistic and knowing where we finished last year, that's quite a stretch. But we know that if we go in every single weekend and we try to maximise every single result, who knows where that will take us? I'm just going into every race as though it's a race we can win and seeing where that takes us over the course of the season."

Good lord, I think that says all I need to know about what they've managed over the winter.

This man James Allison the GOAT. I know we have to see what's it's like on track first, but man that excites me. =D>

Yeah, you can imagine the W15 was his first crack at figuring out these regs. George mentioned a month or two ago that JA was finally able to do some stuff to the car he had been wanting to do since early in the season last year. That makes sense considering first drafts tend to provide the most low-hanging fruit. I'm sure we're going to see a noticeable jump from last year.

The quote from the article is great but it's hilarious how the Mirror is trying to spin it like George isn't happy with the car . . . when the quote literally reads "From what I feel so far, I'm happy."

Top flight journalism.

To add perspective of British general press, motor racing wouldn't even reach the press edit decision stage if there was anything "important" to say about 1st football, 2nd horse racing, 3rd rugby, 4th darts

They will ALWAYS go with a contentious/ tense headline, that's the way of daily rag journalism, and always will be.

Its effectively a symbol of success to even get a mention for George. But they'll cut him to ribbons if he shows anything in the way of cockiness, before having the wins to back that up.

Just a normal day in the daily churn for them, the "redtop" press issue.

Given that, it seemed quite balanced in their usual terms.

Lewis will be on the front page though if he won first time out for Ferrari :D they'd all want to be associated with that.

The W16 does tentatively look good though, appears best of MB so far in these rules. I think quite optimism is their current stance internally at the team.

I quite like the attention to detail around the larger aero parts...the side pods, the barge boards and the little upward flicks on the suspension to keep dirty air out of the floor...it seems merc have finally come to grips with these regulations. The car looks focused now...
