He'd be a unique case then, one time champion, two times sacked...

Obviously, we all like Fernando, and we are all eager to find out what future will look like.

I've read eagerly throughout this thread, and have been pondering about Fernando's master plan for a long time, as we all have.

To me, it is extremely clear.

Fernando split with Ferrari some 2 or 3 months ago (which, aka, was his very own clear decision).

This was around Spa, where tensions were building up within Merc. No one could predict intra-team interactions NOT going wrong.

....
many rumors later (as aptly summarized in the previous posts)
...

Nothing makes sense, except...

Fernando signs with McLaren!!

Wait, ... euh ??? where is the master plan?
McLaren isn't exactly the double-speed version of the Ferrari either..., right?

I've got insufficient knowledge of the Samurai-literature, to cite the specific paragraph, but after many months of doubts it has become clear to me there has to be one brilliant page in the book. (but keep quiet):

Fernando will drive at McLaren next year.
Lewis will win two WDC titles (2014 and 2015).

Fernando will challenge Lewis (remember previous hints at who is his most challenging competitor) to race the same 2016 car. Lewis' ego will accept. Fernando will switch seats.

Don't tell Lewis, ok?

All the best,

Maarten

Hamilton is contracted to Mercedes. So is Rosberg.

They are easily the most desirable seats to any driver at the moment.

Alonso has 'sort of quit' Ferrari, he probably really, badly wants to drive for Mercedes.

Hamilton, a month ago has been publicly unhappy with Mercedes on a number of occasions this year. This would potentially open up a seat there if he decided to quit the team due to a poor result or a perceived preferential treatment towards Rosberg.

It is generally thought that Hamilton has a home at McLaren should he want it and as probably the highest profile driver of the moment, it is pretty much a certainty that Honda would dig deep to sign him.

So it all revolves around that, Hamilton is contracted to the end of 2015, after a year of learning, Honda might well be very competitive in 2016. If Mercedes have a less than stellar year next year, Hamilton to McLaren-Honda is pretty likely.

Alonso probably does not want to commit to a drive beyond the possibilities of a seat at Mercedes. Hamilton is yet to commit to 2016 and beyond and if it all goes badly for him in the next two races, might just walk.

Then there is the question regarding Alonso's contract at Ferrari and who will buy who out ? If as thought there are three drivers now contracted, at some point Ferrari might need to pay one of them to not drive, or maybe lead the charge at LeMans......

So much drama....
Why would any driver walk away from what is the most likle fastest car in the field in 2015? It so hard to luck into a rocket ship much less wait until your team develops a midfield car into one.

In Antena3 Lobato and Carlos Miquel are very confident about that 'special thing' Alonso is hoping for next year for fans to enjoy.

They say he wants to run 24h du Le Mans next year.

It fits for me very much and these people are near to Alonso and his managers.

They also say that he is going to Mclaren 100% and that he is not revealing maybe just for joy?, but they are not sure about that.

Lewis' ego will accept? Why? He's "been there, done that, got the t-shirt" with Alonso in his rookie year. He's got nothing to prove against Alonso. Alonso's ego, though, that's a different thing altogether. I bet Alonso's ego hurt when Button recently said that Alonso isn't as fast as Hamilton.

I can see Hamilton staying at Mercedes a year or two more and then looking to go to Ferrari to finish his career. Especially if Vettel is still there - that way he would get to race against the other multiple champion on the grid. Or, in a Senna tribute, Williams if they stay reasonably competitive.

 , no. He shook hands on a deal with Ferrari on Friday afternoon in Suzuka. He told Horner on Friday evening.

So the rumor is third cars for Ferrari and RBR or Merc (from different sources). Could be Vettel, Raikkonen and Alonso in Ferrari -- do they actually have the money?

If third cars happen, the third driver has to be a rookie and will be non-points scoring. So Marciello & Verstappen.
