Alonso might have more say about what driver will be in the other seat and he wants Button.

It looks like he is bringing money to the team thru two major sponsors and maybe more.

And that would put him in good graces with the Bahrain Royal Family(50% owner of Mclaren).Honda wouldn't mind Button for one more year.

But if I have to take Alonso or Dennis, I will take Alonso, as much success Dennis had in the past, that was a long time ago, in the last 10 years he screw things more than fix it.

My opinion.
Mclaren need Ron Dennis as he is Mclaren. Unless Ron is running the team and kicking honda and the engineers while having alonso as his wing man, there is no shorter route to a WDC.

When Alonso and Dennis need to put aside the difference that is going to be a very dark combination in F1

McLaren sign Alonso and Button for next season as well as surprising everyone by agreeing to run a 3rd car with Vandoorne in it (to benefit from the extra mileage).
Magnussen is given a seat at the new McLaren (Honda owned and powered) junior team (built from the remanants of Marussia and run by Mr Aguri...) alongside Kobayashi....
(Well it IS called "Silly Season"..!!)
Silly season or not isn't it too much to have three cars and junior teams at the same time? BTW McLaren and Horner are not keen on three cars, probably because it would mean the whole podium for Mercedes, expect customer cars instead. In your scenario: if Magnussen is not good enough even for the third car why keep him at all ;-) ?

As for Magnussen vs Button - neither. Button is ancient and not fast or sharp enough, one half decent race with limited competition doesn't change it. Magnussen in comparison was even worse, hard to say how much of it is related to rushing his debut (can improve but how much?). Good thing is that in the near future of F1 as a pro wrestling type pseudo sport bad driver choices won't matter much.If we replace competition with junior teams we can fail season after season (McLaren/Ferrari), money is similar and the worst position fourth.

And that was the major reason Alonso didn't sign the dotted line until now.(so is Dennis gone and back to the auto side?)
Makes sense and might explain why they delay second driver announcement, it's not like they don't know everything about them. If you add recent changes in technical department it's too big of a chaos for a serious contender.

You might not be too far off. Fill the grid with customer teams, even GP2 teams if needed  http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116734

Going off on a tangent, if Caterham manage to make Abu Dhabi, Alice Powell's family has offered £35k for an FP1 drive.

For those not au fait with Powell, she took part in GP3 a few years ago without much success, and is a club racer these days.

Guys the most (un)probable, the silliest thing that will happen!

Honda - Ferrari colaboration on power unit, it all ads up. Alonso staying at Ferrari, Vettel and Alonso drivers, Kimi to McLaren. Hahahahah :D :D :D

Honda and Ferrari creating the most potent power unit ever, sending the Mercs to oblivion.

That's why Alonso is smiling all the time, this has not been done...ever!:D

There are also rumors of a 3rd car being entered for 2015 by Porsche.

McLaren will be running their Honda powered development car at Silverstone tomorrow, would be interesting to know who is going to drive it, as that might give a solid indication of 2015 driver line-up. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116751

You might be right, but it would make sense to run a driver with experiences of their 2014 car, so I guess Vandoorne is a likely candidate, as he as far as I know is the only other driver to have tested for McLaren this year.

According to Dario Motorsport, Button will leave Mclaren at the end of this season: http://www.diariomotorsport.com.br/2014 ... temporada/
