Season over. Its 2014 again.
how much of this over is due to PU?
Well McLaren should be the benchmark given same engine. I know they still haven't optimised use of their engine yet but it cannot be all of it. Clearly some of it must be better chasis
I think Mclaren have been opening that they will upgrade pretty quickly, and just built the obe they started with. If they get it right, and learn the PU, they should close right in.

Enzo’s quote is so ironic right now, “Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines.” Too bad all those aero updates won’t do jack against a Mercedes power unit.

Congratulations to Merc who have built an unbeatable car and will win the championship just like 2014, 15, 16, 17….Congrats to Russell, it will be his best season to date thanks to Merc.

Merc still #1 by far. Hard to beat a globe girdling empire.
Macca with a nice showing for second fastest. Surprised Norris beat Piastri.
Ferrari, again, 3rd fastest, and unfortunately, their leadership is still incompetent. Maybe their start advantage will offer some short-lived hope?
Bummer for Max. Wish he had gone to Mercedes when he had the chance.

Yeah, it’s a shocker. Unfortunately, nobody is touching Merc/Russell this season.

Happens to them all at some point. Question is, does he endure being in an uncompetitive car for possibly an entire regulation, or does he bail from the sport.

As Villeneuve said, Mercedes won’t need Max in that seat, with this kind of advantage.

The telemetry is bugged for Merc engine cars.

I've checked the same. You can see how much earlier Russell lifts in T11. Both Russell and Antonelli lift on that straight well before the end of it. This gives them more energy for the back straight and they reach higher top speed gaining a lot of time. Rest of the lap between Norris and Mercedes looks very similar deployment wise, big difference is that Mercedes lift to T11.
Image

What is interesting is that both McLaren and Ferrari have differences between the drivers (this is reason Leclerc had less speed on that straight). Cars don't use the same amount of energy on the same straights and this leads to differences.

Yet again FIARB have gifted their "great white hope" Max Costcappen mickey mouse regulations to ensure nobody can touch their golden boy. Yet again the media is diligently ignoring the obvious favoritism shown to Christian "I didn't do it" Horndog

FIA has given this championship to Mercedes win by default. They violated the rules as Ferrari did in the past but the italians have been afflicted by a giant penalty, Mercedes has been praised for this behavior. Is that fair? And this happen only because their political influence is overscale. That's not sport at all!

It's a glitch. Or maybe all Mercedes powered cars just ran an illegal sprint qualifying. I guess we'll see.

They've passed every test as per the rules. You can't keep screaming cheating or illegal engines or whatever forever.

Well you can, but it's just screaming into the void.
