Re: Introduce yourself here

Post

This has got to be, hands down, the coolest site ever!!!

I've been reaing topics on here for a while, before finally deciding to sign up.
Hopefuly I'll be able to leach even more knowledge out of you guys in my various projects, and most valuably to be able to bounce ideas off like minded people for a change, can get a bit lonely in my head, cause no one else really talks cars the way u guys do down here :D

I'm based in sunny Pretoria, South Africa, where we have some amazing tracks like Kyalami, Zwartkops, Phakisa etc.. and have been fortunate enough to race on them all in various categories.

I've been racing since 1999, mostly in Formula Vee, but also some Super Hatch, Historics and sports cars. I have a Diploma in Engineering from TUT, and am will be completing my Degree next year. While studying, I was involved in the Baja Bug competition, briefly with the Witts FSAE car, and with the unfortunate still born TUT FSAE attempt. Other that that, I have desinged and built 5 cars, some even succesfully :>

I have a few projects going at the mo, but the big one is a new Formula Vee for next year. It will be the most CAE car i've built, using pro-engineer (who i'm also employed by), FEA, CFD and VD simulators, which is hopefully where you guys will come in!

Look forward to sharing more about my projects with you guys in future and hopefully benefitting from what seems to be a highly informed bunch of guys!
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's probably electrical

Hi all,
I am Raz, I am studying Automotive Engineering in Melbourne, Australia and this is my second year. I am currently in my uni's FSAE team just help designing/ building part of the chassis and nose cone.
I've been following WRC, DTM, Le Mans 24Hrs, Dakar, MotoGP and of course F1. Any race Audi or VW enters i'll watch.
My fav. manufacturer in terms of road cars is Audi and Merc.
Cars I'll restore/ mod in the future are the Audi Quattro and the old school Mini Cooper (if i have the bucks for it anyway)
Although i try to keep up with new about the vehicle industry and some technical stuff, i am sorry if i make any mistakes about companies or something technical.

Hi, I'm Roland Ehnström, a sim-racing driver from Sweden. I've been following F1 since the early 90's, and I've seen every race since 1994.

Those of you who watch WTCC on Eurosport may have caught a glimpse of me on television, as I was the 2008 champion of V-WTCC, the virtual version of WTCC. First price in the competition, held on-site at WTCC-events, was a brand new Chevrolet HHR. 8)

Though not a requirement on today's intarwebz, introductions sure are good manners. Hi, name is Michael, and I thoroughly enjoy Formula One...now that Montoya is gone at least.

I am a recovering tifoso, who now sees more merit in being the fan of a great driver, or drivers, rather than an entire team.

Been buttering my toast with Finnish SILVER jam these days...the red kind leaves a terrible taste in my mouth...

Hello for everyone! My name is Fábio and i'm from Portugal, to be more precise i live in the Algarve and many of you will know as the land of the sun. I'm neighbour of the Portimão circuit and also the WRC stages that will take place in one month so any question about those i'll be glad to help. I'm finishing a graduation in civil engineering but i always followed motorsport since the 90's, especially F1 because of the technical side. Sorry for some mistakes with the language, i'm a bit rusty with the english.

Sorry Guys, but I have failed to introduce myself here. I am a 53 year old American who has paid his rent designing electrical controls. No big deal, but I have been an F1 fan since Clark and Chapman did ther magic at Indy in '63,'64,'65. I was a child, but we listened to Indy via radio. Then, we started looking for F1 news. A hard task, but made much easier in modern times by sites like this one.

I like techno but I am not an aero guy or a mechanical engineer. Currently I make my daily bread teaching in a technical college. The Prof reference has no relation to Monsieur Prost, but instead to what my students and staff call me.

"Hey Prof, what the f**k happened." "Hey Prof, why are my grades so s**t. "Hey Prof, my girlfriend is horny so I need to miss today's lecture."

Hey guy, can I join you?

Hello all. My name is Paul and live in Baltimore. I've been a F1 fan since attending my first race in 1969. I was a Minardi fan until the teams demise, but now root for Kubica and the Bimmers, but also a Alonso supporter.

Hi, I'm a mech eng 4th year student at newcastle university. I'm also technical director for our uni's formula student team. So maybe i can help with technical issues although i'm more of a dynamics and mechanics fan than aero and thermo.

Long time reader and fan of F1Technical and thought i'd like to finally get stuck in!

I'm a McLaren fan although i like anyone who drives like a real racer should. Personally i think there is more talent on the grid this year than there has at any point in the last 10 years. I rate Hamilton, Glock, Vettel, and Alonso. Also, Raikkonen and Button are quick when they have the right equipment/motivation.

Bring on Melbourne!

Hi my name is Sander from the Netherlands.

Was a fan of schumi but since he retired i don't have a favorite driver.

Btw this site is great especially with all the tech info here!

I hope that i can contribute here.

I can't wait till Sunday. I'm just curious how Lewis handles the pressure of him being the current World Champion and how about Felipe who almost was the 2008 world champion. And it is interesting to see how Brawn GP will compete. With the experience of Ross Brawn it could be an underdog...

The race starts @ 7:00 AM here.
Drive safe!

Force India. They were told by the FIA to change their logo because the FI they were using looked too much like the F1 logo. So....they changed the "I" to a lowercase "i."
