Scuderia Toro Rosso has announced that Carlos Sainz will join the team with immediate effect. It means that our driver line-up for the 2015 season is now established as Max Verstappen and Carlo Sainz.

"Explain the ending to F1 in football terms"
"Hamilton was beating Verstappen 7-0, then the ref decided F%$& rules, next goal wins
while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"
Seems to me Alonso has said "December 1st i'll decide / put my signature for 2015".
Then Mclaren has the time to decide for their second driver - or both drivers should Fernando not drive for MCL"

I think that's pretty poor really, you're denying both guys, particularly Button, from having a final race send off. It would be a real shame for Jenson to leave the sport through an off season press release.
To be honest if he is leaving, I wouldn't be surprised if he confirms it himself. Doesn't seen the sort to hold his tongue in that situation. Kevin has also effectively been frozen out of the sport if he's dropped, all the other seats are filled.
All in all, very poor treatment of both drivers from Mclaren during this almost embarrassingly desperate pursuit of Alonso.

Unless 3 car teams are a go and Mclaren intend to keep both current drivers... Or as has been suggested they're keeping Jenson in a race aeat alongside Alonso and then giving Kevin a development role for a year or two until Jenson retires...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren
Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻♂️
There is pressure on Mclaren to keep Button next year by Honda and Alonso.
And it has been said by people in the know, that if the driver announcement gets pushed off again(and it has),Button's odds of being in the seat next year goes up.

Ehh, I don't buy that. Button is not someone who needs to sit around earnestly waiting for the phone to ring. If McLaren doesn't sign him for 2015 by end-of-this-season then he'll be disappointed but he'll accept the reality of that situation, namely that this means McLaren is going with Kevin.
So at least we know now that Alonso won't drive the McLaren in the Post Season Test.
And somehow it tells me that the Future of Kevin ans Jenson is already settled, since it would be really bad to fire one of them in the Off Season with basically no Time to find a reasonable Seat for 2015.
McLaren must have a good reason for doing this - Alonso dragging things out etc. They would not do this as it is also a distraction for the entire team.
Or, they are dragging this out as long as possible to generate maximum publicity, and they are all in it together !!!
I suspect Alonso is tied to Ferrari until after the Season. So once Ferrari announces Vettel and therefore the department of Alonso McLaren can announce Alonso.
Also didn't McLaren say there will be a Sponsor unveiled in December? It would fit in the grand Scheme of Things.
