Im very ambivalent if this is true, on one side im really interested in seeing what clever things they've found out, on the other hand I don't hope we'll see just two teams battle it out, so I hope that the clever ideas will be quickly implemented by the other teams too.

If its just two teams at the front I'd still be happy, especially in the first year of new regulation. One single team out in front would be awful for F1 after 2021

It would be superb if it were Haas. Would make this wasted season so much sweeter to bear.

I've been reading some of the old threads from 2006/7/8/9 and the end of the development of the wingy cars in 08 was preceded by no-one really getting into any 2009 loopholes. The boxes are tight now so that it is only ever going to be little things - but maybe there is something in that tweet.

I suspect we all hope so!

Yeah but then you compare 2022 to 2009, it's a whole other level of restrictive.

Agreed - it has become too restrictive (of course)

If ever the budget cap can be made to stick then perhaps they might allow more freedom across the piece.

In any event, I am very much looking forwards to the first cars on track and the first damp sessions too :)

Does anyone know how much the braking distances will increase with these rule changes?

Less than 5% I'd imagine. The downforce isn't going to be significantly less than 2021 according to reports.

Some People (myself) think that this cars look too similar. So a variation of wheel covers would be a possibility to change that. I like the static covers in 08-09.

I don't think any team behind McLaren/Alpine has the potential to jump to the front. They didn't have budgets and enough push in the preceding years.

You saw neither of the cars, so how do you know?
At the very least there will be a red, a green, an orange and a blue car, that's rather different.

Didn't there exist some loophole workgroup involving the teams that should clear out any loopholes?
