Ouch. That doesn't sound too promising.
Horrendous from Honda. They are utterly clueless.

They didn't think that others would improve. Stupidity of the highest order. Too conservative, too insular.

They desperately, urgently, need a consultant who has worked at Merc/Ferrari to go in and sort things out.

seriously you gotta be kidding... this is somewhat engineering championship not a magic show. even wazari gave up on honda but you still have some faith left.

if i would we Mclaren , i will just show middle finger to Hasegawa and honda and ditch them. reputational damage they are causing to mclaren brand is way more than what they would be paying in $.
spineless , uncompetitive engineers at sakura and testers , who should be fired on spot.
honda pride is good but that is inherited from previous gens , these current bunch of engineers look dirt to me.
you can not mess up at this scale . they messed up big time but still saying others might have gained more , seriously ..are you engineer or sore looser and complainer. Mclaren can soon become a history if they still dream about good old glory days with Honda.

I believe aero setup is already compromised if they say they are down on power output.

Once they've screwed up...only thing left to measure is how well they recover.
No point in restating what everyone already knows.

I just want to know one thing, these short runs McLaren did, were they on heavy fuel, medium or low fuel? Were they trying to chase lap times? Or is this the extent of what the car can actually do? We know there's around 5 seconds between full out q3 pace, and the pace we generally see in the races. What I'm saying is, are they really only better than the Saubers going flat out q3 lap? Is that the extent if the power unit holds together?

Also isn't Zak Brown affiliated with Motorsport, and by extension Autosport? Why would he allow Ben Anderson to badmouth the team? These and more questions will be answered as the season goes on.

I think Vandoorne did a 1.21.xxx on medium tires yesterday which is tbh a decent time considering the condition of the PU and in a way a non-optimal chassis.

I know it all looks like a bit of a disaster so far, but jumping ship is not going to happen.
As has already been mentioned, I doubt McLaren could do without the Honda cash input.

The true death of Mclaren would happen pretty quickly if they ditched Honda.

Wazari seems fairly adamant Honda have made significant power gains over last year, so if they can sort the reliability then who knows how far it will take them ?

I for one wouldn't give up just yet peoples

If McLaren are really good, they'll overcome the lack of running if they just good, they'll use it as crutch.

Are the PU's being frozen again next season? First I've heard of it...

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Just to clarify a couple of things, one I did NOT give up on Honda. I decided not to renew my contract due to personal reasons not related to Honda. Secondly, the translation of "traitor" is really not that accurate; it's meaning in this case is "rebel".

This spineless engineer believes this current PU in its current layout has tremendous potential and has XX% more peak power available than the 2016 PU and X% more efficient.
