This implies they’ve only got 1 hard and 1 medium (plus the softs).
I don't get AM strategy of opting for '1 HARD' & '1 Medium' for race. They have to bolt on a 'Soft' at some point in the race.
Well, there are people who think that starting with softs (new, as Alonso has) is a good option in this circuit. Apparently, there's the possibility to easy gain positions.

What's to be seen is if you can keep that positions or otherwise the tyre dies in few laps and then you're compromised for the rest of the race.
If tire wear is significant, track position might not matter much if you only have it for a couple of laps before being forced to pit. It's risky because it puts you at a disadvantage in later stints. However, it is not so easy to overtake without significant performance delta here, so it might be worth the gamble.

It seems upgrad is working as expected. however they are not improving the time thought qualy session. not sure why.
Alonso always does this, take a look at all other qualifying sessions, he pushes pretty hard in Q1/Q2/Q3, there isn't much more pace he can find in Q3, unlike the other teams which don't push as hard in Q1/Q2.
He doesn't always do that but I like it. Let's one save tires.

Yeah... Who knows. It's going to be interesting!

Think there is an outside chance Alonso starts on softs. He did last year.

P9/10 predicted according to Alonso. So made start to gamble on softs. But red flag will probably change to mediums now

I think they improved the deg a bit, but no chance against Ferrari for example. SAI can’t show it often, traffic, but they are pretty quick.

You think they're gonna tires softs on the last stint? I mean 20 laps is peanuts for Hards.
