They had to, theyre slower than Racing Bulls and Mercedes now, no even close to challenging Mclaren anymore, both drivers barely improving on new tires that were 7 laps younger than the ones they did their first runs with. jeez

Yeah, balance doesn't look good and both drivers lack confidence under braking...could be the wind but the other teams aren't suffering like the ferrari. Top 4 looks out of reach.

yea idk what they did to that car, P5 and P6 is a bit disappointing considering how good the car looked in Lewis' hands all weekend

they don't need to have done anything, they are all close and racing is on margins and minor errors with an obvious advantage for a tricky to drive but fast MCL.

The gaps are small…maybe the tyre pressure increase hurt them over one lap more than it did in a race situation.

If that is the case, tomorrow should be fun

So when I said the qualifying had to be on point for the race victory that's what not on point looks like. Still I won't complain, the sprint pole was a work of magic and a bit of luck that would been near impossible to replicate. P5 and P6 is still better than what it could have been. If the race pace is anything like the sprint a podium is still doable.

Lewis lost a tenth to his sprint quali time. They made the car slower somehow. Weird.

Adami: “Sorry about that, car was a bit poor today.”

Lewis Hamilton: “Yea, that outlap wasn’t the one…”
Lewis was down 0.086 to Piastri in the first sector, 0.012 secs slower in the middle and then lost 2 tenths in the final sector

Ultimately, Charles being a tenth off on one of Lewis's best circuits with a setup he only had Q1 to adapt to isn't bad at all. I think the pressure increase affected us more over one lap than in the race, but let's see what changes were made for the race tomorrow.

Most unsurprising outcome, everyone got hyped for 4 hours without realizing teams can make setup changes. I learned that mistake with Verstappen in Qatar last year, when he was on the pace with the Haas in the Sprint, to being on pole the 4 hours later and then went onto win the race on Sunday :)
