the rumor was that McLaren wanted him in to replace de la Rosa. So it was either STR race driver, or McLaren test driver, and he obviously felt the race mileage was better

At the end of the last BBC forum, Jaime sounded very positive, talking about the prospect of him getting a seat next year. :)

Edit: Here is a youtube link of it.

I didnt listen to those comments from Alguersuari, but in his twitter account and offical website he does mention "new challenges and new goals, follow me very soon.." So something may be on the horizon, especially since the website does have an F1 background. I certainly do hope he comes back, I've always been fond of him and he proved to be quite capable in the Toro Rosso.

Since its silly season, and with the rumors from MotoGP this morning about Valentino retiring at the end of the season.

Ferrari: Alonso/Rossi

I said it first this silly season.

Maybe Alguersuari was promised a race seat for 2013 if it was free after a year testing... Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense for an offer to be made, since he had a race seat at that time.

Won't miss alguesari. With exiting guys like Perez, Romain, Maldonado, what can Algu really bring to the table? Just another drop out to me. The sad thing is, the current two TR drivers aren't really any better; F1 can do without those two as well.

Perez, Grosjean and Malders? Why would they even contemplate exiting the sport?

I call BS. I think it's just the tabloids reacting to Sir JYS' comments

I actually think n_sminkle meant "exciting." Not that any of those drivers can get my heart racing or anything.

Agreed. Norbert didn't facilitate Di Resta's entry into F1 just so he could shore up Ferrari's #2 seat.

Yeesh, is it possible for Felipe Massa to stink up the grid anymore than he already has. I'm taking issue with this because the guy drives a Ferrari. I mean its not a Marussia, HRT or even a STR. Its a freakin' Ferrari & the best result he's managed is a 9th in 5 Races.

Its not a shocker that he's got only 2 Points in the bag considering his grid positions in the past 5 races: 16th (Australia), 12th (Malaysia), 12th (China), 14th (Bahrain) & 16th (Spain).

I could think of a 100 drivers that could be doing a better job than him. I wish Ferrari would just terminate his contract & replace him.

I recon that he will be replaced after Monaco. Probably by Sutil or another driver that left F1 last year, id like to see someone like Alguersauri get the nod.

However there has been a rumor or two that it could be Jarno Trulli or Davide Rigon that gets the call, as Ferrari are getting pressure from Italian government to get a Itilian driver. If they were to wait till after singapore they could have Valsecchi.

I think that Alonso wants someone that is quick beside him, and Sutil i think will suit the bill. I find it funny that some of the pics ive seen of Sutil over the weekend at Barcelona have had a red motorhome in the back ground.

I think its safe to say that Massa is the only driver that is under fire at the moment. All 23 others are doing a good enough job for me.

I don't believe Ferrari would employ any of the drivers that got dumped for being too crap. I can see DiResta getting the drive though, and Sutil getting his FI seat back.

I think there were no problems with Sutil's performances on track. Did they let Bianchi go already? Trulli would make sense if it really was about the power steering last year.
