CMSMJ,

I can assure you that corner speeds are in excess of 120 mph at certain tracks, other tracks they are are as low as 80 Mph. One track in particular they hold the throttle wide open the entire way around the track. Speeds down the straight at that track are 140 mph. These are certainly not F1 cars but speeds and aero are closer to F1 than one might think. That is one reason why I am such a huge fan of both types of racing and why these exotic short track cars have so much to gain from the F1 knowledge base. I appreciate the input.

I'm constrained by a 22 inch long, 15 inch high, 50" wide box with a max of three elements. I'm trying to decide between standard three element arrangement or two element arrangement with a stacked wing above. Here is an example of a stacked wing I'm doing runs on. The wings are Selig 1223 derivatives.

So far the traditional three element arrangement is winning:

A quick comparison of your wing profiles with the ones Sauber used in 2008 shows your solution should be quite useful.
Maybe try to overlay your profiles on the Sauber Picture and make out differnces, but be aware the cut through the wings isn't completely normal as the perspective of the photo changes the cut.

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

What class do you run and at what tracks? I'm somewhat familiar with short track racing. Sounds almost like super unlimited.

Anybody have a design that would fit in a 560 mm long by 380 mm high rectangle limited to three elements? Anyone have a better airfoil shape than the Selig 1223 shown above? Anyone have any insight into slats? Lets assume clean air (which it is not) and 100mph (which is simply a point in time).

Thanks for your insights, your expertise and most importantly, your willingness to share both.

I used a Selig S1223 as my main element but an Eppler E420 for the flap to good effect. The lack of rearward thickness on the Selig s1223 hurts it in terms of separation at high flap deflection angles of attack when introducing the slot effects.
Something weird about the Selig as a main, though, is that it doesn't have much pressure recovery so it doesn't drive the slot very hard.

To compensate, you put the whole system at angle of attack and use the Selig main element make its own downforce (more of it) rather than just depend on the flap increasing the camber

No Div,

Thanks for the advice. I agree about the thickness of the Selig. The E 423 and E 420 are good candidates for a flap
