I think you misunderstood. He is not jelaous - he was just kidding around. But when you think about it, if you leave out the last part, the first one is pretty much what we all thought was going to happen. Honestly, I thought that Alonso would back off and let Montoya pass him without much resistance. I also believe that he would've let Kimi go by as well. After all, all Alonso needed was to finish 3rd.

As far as the second comment goes, again, it was a harmless comment. You have to agree how bad things at Renault always seem to happen to Fisichella and never Alonso - and Flavio is not the one to tolerate that.

btw, to answer your first question, like I said he's an ex-F1 driver (from '60s, I believe), who is part of Speed Channel's F1 quartet - actually it is a trio + an extra. The three main guys are him, Steve Matchett (former mechanic at Benetton, worked while Michael was with that team. Now he contributes to F1 Racing magazine - albeit a small contribution), and Bob Varsha (no idea who this guy is). "The extra" is actually one of the most famous journalists in F1 - Peter Windsor. He does a lot of their pre-race coverage, but is not a comentator during the actual race.

Cheers

Well done (not) Fernando for benefiting from others reliability.

Only 4 wins so 40 points (plus the 4x2 points less Fernando would have had)

You’ve hardly “beaten kimi” like Shumi used to do to Mika, how many times did you pass kimi this year………………………… exactly.

In part reliability in part the ridiculous rules dropping 10 grid slots on kimi for nothing he’s done, has contributed to a Paper Champion

Never overtaken kimi and world champ? Paper champion,

Pathetic

We love ya Fernando

This must be a wonderful moment and a terrible rush of emotions for the youngster from Spain

Good job Fernando, you earn it :!:[/quote]

The word is UNRELIABILITY

6 wins - SIX WINS (for now, the season isn't over yet)

How many times did Kimi pass Fernando? 3 of 6 races won by Kimi are those when Fernando DNF or was involved in accidents (had problems) (Monaco, Canada, Hungary).

FIA regulations are equal for all, don't blame Fernando for crappiness of Mercedes-Illmor engines, mechanic’s cock-ups and greedy tactics (suspension failure).

If he didn't made that mistake in Canada and if Ralf didn't hit him in Hungary the championship would have been decided in Monza. From 16 races Fernando finished 13 races on podium in his 4th season!

If Fernando is "Paper Champion" than Kimi is "Paper vicechampion"!

Well done Fernando, you drove an almost perfect season.
The title is based on who has the most points at the end of the season. Period.
Those are the rules everyone knew at the beginning of the season, accept it.
As fas as David Hobbs, I met him in '74 when he was at Mosport for a F5000 race. He was very likeable and friendly to everyone, a real nice guy. He seemed very chummy with Brian Redmond, another relatively unknown British driver who did well at almost all forms of motorsport. I have a very high opinion of both of them.
One very amusing quote I recall coming from David was. "David Coulthard looks like one of the Thunderbirds characters.." I laughed all day.
As far as Murray Walker, it was amusing to hear his comments and enjoy his unending enthusisam, but it got sad that the end of his career because he made so many errors, in observation and analysis. But he was funny.

By the way Tomba, here in Canada when Jacques won the title, we had one heck of a party. Ohh yea, it was fun.

Now this is the problem with F1......it didnt take long did it !

http://www.homeofsport.com/f1/news/item.aspx?id=13194

Goodluck and Congrats to this guy for winning the title......anyone but MS puts a smile on my face but really.....why is this guy worth this staggering amount !!! Another example of greed in this rat infested sport !!!

He is not 66 million worth of talent.....at 8 million he would be over paid !!! I am sure Renault would laugh at this amount. The money can surely be better spent on developing the car which sadly doesnt get the recognition it deserves.

Fur-nando "my nest" A-loan-zar no more !

Conspiracy Theory - Is Kimi a Smoke Screen for shumi's true Jewel....the Lucky Fernando

I think that drivers paychecks will continue to rise and sometimes asking too much is a good way to get as much as you planned

Also, Fernando is still very young and his main weapon the coolness under pressure combined with growing experience could make him the ultimate driver of his generation. Fernando lapped Schuey (during his 5 title era - 2003 Hungary) - both of them in fully functional cars, how old was he… 21?

Lucky Fernando? No, it was the unlucky Kimi, I thought we agreed about that. No one mentioned how unlucky Fernando was in 2004 with almost identical frustrations Kimi faced in 2005.

i think the drivers pay will not be going any higher. so far both the shumacher brothers are reportedly earning the most and then next i think will be button. i know kimi is less than 10mil per season
