I think Verstappen could also just retire, he said it many times .

I don’t think he is chasing records, so going to other things like Le Mans

If we consider things from Max point, he has 4+ good years and his championships but does not know how the new engine (and car really) is going to shape up to the others.

With a new car design team and a new engine without a track record at all, it is not likely to be the leading car by a margin, and could well be down the order, so is probably having a look around and keeping his options open. He would probably prefer to stay at Red Bull, but not to the extent of not being in with a shout at seasons end.

He has a long contract too, so if it is not possible for him to switch teams, it is still an option to "retire as a F1 driver" which would not rule out racing in other series.

Not just Max, but all these guys have teams behind them who are several steps ahead of us with their planning

Let the moderators speak for themselves. You may think you are being helpful but what you do is create confusion and erode their credibility by exposing inconsistencies.

There are public posts by the mods regarding certain types of threads. Don't you think they are beholden to be consistent in their rulings and communications accross the board?

If they change the guidelines from one day to another, so be it but let it come from their mouths(or keyboards).

Whichever team shows consistent positivity in performance after 2026 F1 specifications rolls out. Why would he settle for anything less. He’ll be the most desired pilot when RB contract runs out. I’m not expecting him to initiate performance clause in current RB contract as a result.

Jos Verstappen has warned Red Bull, should the team fail to retain the World title with Max Verstappen, not to look to the driver for blame because they are the ones that need to perform.

This kind of crap keeps Toto's ears up. I think it would be a mistake for all involved. Toto and Jos would be a match made in hell. They could make promises to Max's camp about having the best PU ect, and then bungle the chassis or aero in 2026. Then what ?

What if Max moves to Mercedes and has a bad couple years ? He will be close to 30 years old and no longer the young hot shot. He could be stuck on the outside of the top teams trying to look in. Everyone will know that Max comes with Jos's baggage. His career could easily get derailed this way just as Alonso's was.
