Would it? While Max winning 3 in a row would point to RBR back to being competitive, McLaren's main task is still done. The WCC is wrapped up and if they haven't already shifted all resources to 2026(highly likely they have), they could do so now.
Panic might be a bit hyperbolic, but it would certainly continue a worrying trend on the WDC front. Oscar's lead over Max would be down to 54 points (and 17 points over Lando) with the result predicted above, with six race weekends remaining (including three sprints). Before Monza, Max was 104 points behind Oscar.JPower wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025, 21:58Would it? While Max winning 3 in a row would point to RBR back to being competitive, McLaren's main task is still done. As far as the WDC goes, coming back from 69 points down is still pretty improbable.
Norris last year had every opportunity to catch precisely because RB wasn’t 2nd fastest on lots of circuits in the second half of the year. Silverstone, Hungary, Belgium, Monza, Baku, USGP, Mexico, Vegas to be exact. And on the tracks they were better than Ferrari and Merc (Zandvoort, Singapore, Sao Paolo, Qatar, Abu Dhabi) the McLaren was still better. Norris just straight up underperformed and didn’t deliver when it mattered.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025, 11:05Only time when McLaren would panic is if suddenly Mercedes and Ferrari are clearly faster than McLaren. Max being fast means nothing because the gap is too big. Just like Norris last year couldn't catch Max because other teams were still worse than Red Bull, it is the same for McLaren this year.
If McLaren is suddenly 3rd or 4th fastest team, then that would open up the season. But I doubt anyone expects that kind of result. Last two races were unlucky for McLaren.
I recall these races very well and I stand by my comment. There were Ferrari and/or Mercedes cars ahead of the RB on pure pace in those 8 races I listed. I don’t know where you are getting your information.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025, 12:57Max was faster than most of those teams on all of those races. In fact, Max was faster than Piastri on most of those races.
The gap was so small that IIRC Lando lost more points to Piastri than Piastri took off Verstappen.
In no way, shape or form. lol
