I don't understand how trying to make an honest and accurate assessment of a driver is "hating". I'm not his mother, my love isn't total and unconditional.
Kimi is darn good, and if Ferrari can deliver a car to his liking, there will be many wins, and maybe even titles. Very good odds, and a real possibility.
But Kimi is a reletively clean driver, I find it hard to recall any major incidents where he has made unethical driving errors. His idea of winning is through sheer hard driving. Maybe when he gets some expereince and conditioning from Ferrari, he may play the game more like Shu, but I doubt that.
And it seems the competition is much tighter, despite Max's and the FIA's obvious rule changes and suport for Ferrari. I think the next few years will be exciting.

with all the drinking that kimi is renowned for? me thinks that kimi will have to adapt a lot to just get on with ferrari. and will they accpet someone who drinks like a fish? i reckon that if kimi wants to get a foothold at ferrari, he will have to radicallly change his ways.

Kimi will only need to get used the Chianti..........otherwise why change?

I'm excited about him going to Ferrari - he's fast as hell and apolitical; dare I suggest he should also drive with 27 on his car?

But, I do worry about whether it was a good long term choice......that's all.

In my opinion, Kimi Raikkonen will do great in a Ferrari, if the car is competitive like this season (after a few races than, as in the beginning of the season, the Ferrari wasn't)!
Kimi has such an amazing speed and even tough he makes some mistakes sometimes, he surely had very bad luck with the McLaren the last few years! If Alonso will have the same problems next season, he will regret his decision to leave Renault!

I'm sure that Raikkonen will outpace Massa next season

Gilles had a lot of different numbers, but in his last two years, 1981 and 1982, he had 27. Somehow, that number took on a mystical quality of it's own, and has been identified with Gilles.
It's a shame you younger fans never experienced his electric driving style. I just hope you view his famous dice with Rene Arnoux at Dijon.

Personally, I think ferrari is really going to regret pushing Michael out. Michael is the one who sets up the chassis. He has set it up for all his number twos. When rubens tried his own set up, michael handed him his lunch. Only once that I can recall did Michael barrow rubens set up. Eddie Ervine said that Michaels greatest tallent was setting up the cars. That Michael had bits and pieces built so that he can pitch the car and the car would come back to him.

It has also been said that Kimi is lousy at setting up the chassis.

Trully, I don't like schumacher. Never have and never will. That however does not take anything away from him. He is the best driver F1 has ever seen second only to Senna..

Senna and Michael are the only guys that have been able to win in F1 with well underpowered engines. For those of us who had the plessure of watching them in the 80's and 90's they will know what I am talking about. The days when the car did not drive you, but you drove the car. The days where you had to move a lever to shift the gears, where you had to feather the throttle to get through the corner, when huge balls were required to out brake someone, because brakes were not carbo fiber like today and stopped on a dime. Aww, the gold old days 8)
To finish first, first you must finish.

Yeah, the same has been said about both Villeneuves, Hakkinen, Ronnie Petersen, etc. Basically that they're so good, they always drive around any setup problems without realizing it.

I won't really give MS 100% credit though... it's always between a racer and his chief engineer. Michael Schumacher+Chris Dyer, Fernando Alonso+Alan Permane, Jacques Villeneuve+Jock Clear, Valentino Rossi+Jerry Burgess, etc.

Michael Schumacher is probably not the fastest driver on the Formula One grid. There, I've said it... but the guy is an engineer, and I'd put my house on him being able to get more out of a car mechanically, through a combination of his knowledge as well as talent, than any of the other twenty one sitting on that grid with him.
