Traditionally, when you fly your flag upside-down it signals you are in distress. I've heard somewhere that some clever Britons did that once, when forced by his captors to keep the flag flying to avoid alerting the british reinforcements arriving. So, next time you attack (or reinforce, as the case may be) the British fort, keep a keen eye on the flag!
