Framework For Discussion - F1 2011 Engine Reg.

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Its time for the engineers to design a good reliable engine and take a long holiday for 5 years.

FIA taking formula1 in a complete backward direction.their cost cutting strategies will one day eliminate all the technological advances that has been made so far.And will no better than any ordinary race series. It will never be regarded as the pinnacle of motor sport.
Alot of people that I have spoken to recently already disregard it as the pinnacle of all motorsport. Seems MotoGP is their new drug of choice.

I don't think so. I agree that engine development should be allowed but making the car more aerodynamically efficient is a better option and this "should" increase the competition among the drivers.
Racing cars are neither beautiful nor ugly, they are beautiful only when you win races.

come on guys, don't rush at conclusions too fast.

First, know that teams not even know precisely what has been decided.
Teams representative did vote for the freeze but the modalities on how it is applied is for now not known inside the teams.

Secondly you forget that an engine is just a part of the drive train. This freeze is surely aimed at KERS development so there'll be room for improvement.

On december the 3rd there'll be a WMSC meeting again were many technical regulations will be decided (including the aerodynamic rules) so we will surely know more about all of that.
