I would try to convince the Sultan of Brunei that having an F1 team is cooler than having hangars full of supercars no one enjoys.

anadartop says get in touch with Aguri Suzuki. alex1015 says keep staff under Ross Brawn. Two members that are incisive strategists with the instinct of foxes. They recommend two "generals" of proven ability that could direct the current troops, I mean staffs. :D

I have 2 recommendations. 2for2for2.

Sell off Honda F1 and insist these two proven leaders have long term contracts as a condition of sale. Even sold off - Honda's reputation depends on there 'former' F1 program and could derive 'free' positive marketing for themselves.

Honda should keep a corporate marketing engineering presence in F1 by becoming an engine supplier. Honda has not been able to produce a winning F1 chassis in 45 years. The last good chassis was - well they never made one did they? Good strategy is to do what you do well. Honda does engines well. Oddly in almost every other direction, Honda does just that - what they do well they pursue with firm will. The only exception to this was the air cooled 4 cylinder road car and you might quibble about the 3 L F1 air cooled V8 of 1967>8. :D

What this team needs is leadership, Money and a Strong Engine. So money, get drivers that will bring in sponsors, leaving the second driver a wildcard, most likely a new guy with lots of talent (top gear STIG??).

Get Aguri as leader or someone like him, in fact that guy from Suzuki WRC Shusuke Inagaki will be a good leader too. Tell Ross Brawn to get the technicals right and tell him if he is free to choose other engine supplier like Cosworth, Ferrari, Mclaren or Toyota. I left out Honda and Renault because they have poor engines.

Have a mentality of there is nothing to loose so try everything you can to win. Then GO FOR IT. Thats it.

I think i would slim down operations and contact some people for auditing what is irrelevant. I would maintain the core design staff and check if some optimizations can be done in manufacturing and reutilization of components. The key would be to be as lean as possible. I would try to secure a good engine a BMW or Ferrari for 2009, then look for Cosworth or others for the future. Use the designed KERS for 2009 and look if KERS will be standarized or not in the future before spending more in R&D. Outsource the maximum of parts and maintain development in key areas. Renegotiate contract with Jenson for less $, and get other cheaper driver to complete the lineup. Try to get Adrian Newey hahahaha.

Now when we have rumours about Schumacher's involvement, possibly he can be persuaded to drive for the compensation of a share in the team? If anything, that should attract sponsors and the man needs something to do anyway.

Hey, I'm sure that they could get Newey, they just have to buy a Chassis from Red Bull Technologies, and rebrand it. STR will do it again ion 2009, so why not Honda in 2010? Especially if the Renault is a top level engine after equalization...
