Lewis his whining about the power (and now so called ‘PartMode’… what?!) is starting the get old in my opinion.

Really a shame for such a great driver and multiple champion after having the best car and engine by a margin for the last 6 years and now the tables are turned don’t man up for the challenge but getting emotional regarding the lack of speed. I really didn’t expected this of him
Are you serious? Or are you just a hater?
Red Bull have been whining for a 7 consecutive years.
Lewis complains because he doesn't like to lose, not because he's whining.
He's smiling even when he doesn't win. Go and watch post races interviews. He congrats max every time. You're just a hater of success

Im really sorry that I gave you that feeling but you couldn’t be more off.

I have a lot of respect for everything Lewis accomplished and even when others were saying he was ‘just lucky to be in the best car’ I defended that as in my opinion the best drivers land in the best cars and its not just plain luck.

I agree he’s always smiling and congratulating when he loses but after that stabs in the back with comments like a party mode (which back then when he had it he said was nonsense), rear wing bull (really? Like anyone believes he saw it with his own eyes while driving behind Max) and the talk about the PU of RBR being updated. Loads of mind games which IMO a champion like him shouldn’t use.

But that’s just my opinion and if that makes me a hater in your eyes, I’m sorry but I guess you’ll get over it ;)

Edit: I even forgot throwing the team under the bus at Monaco. The same team which made him 5 times WDC, another example for me of a different face of #44. It’s easy to be all generous when winning, now it’s time to stand up imo

Seriously? What's wrong with some of you? Must you comment on everything a driver says? I have never come here to complain about Max's or any driver's comments. For goodness sake, these guys are fierce competitors trying to gain an advantage in everyway possible. Please just keep your BS to yourself.

It's not an opinion. It's just an inciting comment.

Anyway, a day to the Grand Prix the forecast is still leaning towards a wet race. I hope I haven't jinxed it.

Gap of last week completely closed.
Thanks for posting.

My first observation is the Red Bull’s runs - especially that of Perez - are a little bit longer, so I think that will obviously skew the average in favour of the shorter runs.

Ferrari’s race pace seems strong - equal with Perez (but again on a shorter run) and only 2-3 tenths off the leaders. The question is whether the one lap pace shown in FP1 is genuine - and they were just focusing on longer runs for FP2 - or if they had to compromise one lap pace in order to achieve this race pace, explaining the poor quali sims in FP2.

I think we’ll get a clearer picture on the latter in FP3 but last week’s race seemed to indicate (albeit on different compounds) that the race pace here will be fine so long as they can run in clear - combining the two is obviously the hard part :D

Honda put an end to controversial suggestions from Mercedes

However, Honda has dismissed all those rumors from the Mercedes camp as inaccurate. F1 director Toyoharu Tanabe told the media in Austria: "I'm very happy if it's true, but it's not true."

“Under current regulations, it is not allowed to apply performance updates during the season. As a result, our second PU is the same as the first PU in terms of specification and performance. Under the current engine rules, we must report any changes to the FIA. You can only change for reliability or financial reasons or logistics, and then we have to submit very detailed information to the FIA first. They must first allow it to adjust."

“The FIA distributes all the documents to the other engine suppliers, so we need approval from the other manufacturers to change the specifications of individual parts. The reason we do such a very detailed research is that a long time ago some teams improved their performance by making a change to improve reliability. So we are very careful to improve the performance and adapt the engine for that. It is not possible to improve performance during the season. That's my response to that suggestions and rumors from Mercedes."

I can't find it in English, don't have the time for that right now, but here is the Dutch article from Motorsport.com.
He said it during the PC.

ham vs ver fp2 lap
https://streamable.com/fdz1cy

- by video hamilton is faster on first straight by half a tenth, even though top speeds are similar
- apex speed is 1 kmh lower for hamilton in T1 but he brakes later and has better exit it seeems, gains more than 1 tenth trough there
- verstappen gains negligible amount up to to T4, gains a bit trough T4 itself (purple mini sector)
- top speed again higher for verstappen but actually loses time on final drs straight, another half a tenth gone
- in S3 mercedes is faster trough fast left handers T6 and T7, they're more or less identical trough T9 and 10. Hamilton seems more on the limit in final corner whereas verstappen leaves some margin

overall mercedes clearly looks better so far. more stable trough corners and can hold higher apex speeds, faster on straights even. It was a similar situation last weekend in fp2 mind you, then red bull turned it around for saturday and sunday, so it's tricky to predict anything.

Pole in low-mid 1.03s. C5 is just a lot faster than C2 from last race.
Why was Max breaking almost 50 meters before Lewis, in almost all corners (except corner 3) ? :)
He is more than likely carrying much more fuel. We can see that redbull did longer runs, especially perez. They are fueled like an oil tanker.
Merc have no pace advantage. Let's not get carried away with FP2. As both Merc drivers have said, they are still trailing the bulls by 2 tenths, and their pace is not enough this weekend.
Apparaently, according to the article, F1.com has access to fuel levels and their pace predictions already include it. The same pace predictions were spot on last weekend so until further notice I tend to trust them.
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

This is how teams have their RWs set up ahead of FP3.
