The knife cuts both sides, he wouldn't have a chance for second if he got penalties for his off-track advantages at the beginning of the race.
Race direction just wants to make the championship exciting.

What happened? With no visual of the scene I was thinking Sainz's life was in danger for a second.
He gained massively on Charles there but I am not worried for Max. He is immune to penalties.
A lot of people believe McLaren have been favouring Norris all along and are now going as far to disadvantage one of the cars.
Verstappen gave back the positions he gained, unlike both Ferrari drivers.
If Verstappen braked and tried to stay on track on t1 he would have been much further back. He did not even attempt to make the corner and knew it was faster to drive around everyone off track. Again dive bombed and drove another driver off track and no penalty. It’s a bit shameful for f1basti313 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025, 23:27No, why? Everything solved and cool:FittingMechanics wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025, 22:27If we really looked at it in detail, I think there were about 3-4 penalties to dish out.
T1:
Lec gave the position to Nor. Ham does not matter, intra team issue.
Ver gave the position to everyone close by, Rus was just well behind.
T1 Ver vs. Ham:
Ver enough alongside into T1, his corner.
Ham enough alongside into T2, his corner.
In the end only Ham messed up in T4.
