What’s emerging from this week, is that Aston is having a question mark on the new wind tunnel for 2026 ? It’s a hit or miss, it could pay off or not. They have the wide pool of talents, but the tunnel seems to be the main focus for the team now.

I hope they manage to test the upcoming upgrade in the new tunnel.

The question no one knows is whether it is Aston's wind tunnel that is signfiicantly miscalibrated or Mercedes'.

Martin Brundle: “I would have brake-tested Alonso if I were Jack Doohan”

Alonso was picking the slipstream f1 behind Doohan
Not sure why he said that about break testing Alonso. Alonso was nowhere near Doohan.
Cause he ended up as commentator...
same guy that was saying how dangerous Alonso's "non- brake check " on Russell was a couple of seasons ago. slip streaming is part of f1, and on many occasions hes talked about how this or that driver needs to get a good slipstream at baku. i think hes just a grumpy commentator that obviously favors some drivers more than others.

He's just an untalented guy.

Hell, he's idiot, period.

Guys, this is not good enough. We all agree the AMR 24 wasn't good enough, and yet it was 4 tenths better than the AMR 25. That's with a year's worth of development on top, it's super disappointing...

It's all good guys... This graph tells us how much potential the car has and will be unlocked by the end of the year... (sarcasm off)

One step softer tires this year, but yeah, aston have been abysmal in car development the last few years.
Williams have done amazing.

Williams and Alpine were running massively overweight chassis at this point last year. Not surprised to see them up there.

Alonso said in the interview that they're probably the last team right now.

Enough said.

I agree with some of you: leaving 2025 car would let the team without any clue about how to build a decent car. Even with Newey, if the rest of the team is so clueless, there's no possible way of succeeding. Newey alone won't do a miracle.

They need to improve this car. Not necessarily make a winning cat... Just find the way to improve it and prove that their designing methods can work, knowing how and why things happen and how to fix them.

I'll be very curious when (and if) the team brings a second update package based on the new wind tunnel's numbers. It will be good to compare updates and see how well the tunnel is working.

If Aston brings any updates, they likely won't be anything that wasn't developed months ago. Spending WT time on this car now doesn't make sense.

What I find strange is that the car at the beginning of 2023 was very good. What happened to that car? Was the front wing illegal? Okay, but the base of the car was good (unless there were other illegal things that weren't reported in the media). :-k
Nothing happened, they just never improved it. They fell behind cause their performance
improvement stood still.

Remember they brought everything they had to testing. Testing ended just before March 1st. So I doudt the upgrades could be that old. You're gonna make changes based on what you see in testing, you get to see your correlation that way.

No you can't spend CFD/Wind Tunnel hours on this car. It's impossible to save it.
Newey already did this in 2008 with the Red Bull which was garbage and made a competitive car for the following year.

Based on what Cowell said about how the AMR WT data doesn’t line up with the Merc WT data, you need to build out what the AMR WT says just to see if it correlates. You don't want to wait till 2026 to find out it doesn't.
