Following the demotion of Ron Dennis as the company's chief, McLaren Technology Group has announced that Zak Brown has accepted the position of Executive Director. The former McLaren F1 driver is set to start work in December.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
I stopped breathing when the director cut to Alonso in the gravel. I'm glad he got it out of there. Pity about the result, but I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. They're improving, and even if the result wasn't good, it was clear for all to see what the car was capable of, at least in the hands of Alonso. I'm sure button would have been closer in quali - and hence the race - had his endplate not come undone

I agree with Alex Wurz on this. It was a calm, spot on analysis of the pit stop / strategy made during the race and Fernando is right that they should have taken a few risks as there wasn't much to lose for them.

Teams lik TR and redbull never run those monkey wings, they are uncessary drag especially in power circuits.

Martin Kodric a fromer Formula Renault driver and now Lamborgini cup driver is a close friend to Max Verstapen....and he spoke to max who told him Mclaren has very very good chassis in some areas on the level of RB, in some area worse and in some even better than RB, he also said Honda is over 50bhp down on Renault in RB.

Max was lying. Mclaren has a better chassis than RB. Redbull hasn't been near Mclaren in the chassis area since last year.
And Honda is nearly 100hp down Renault by the looks of things. Redbulls are breezing past them on the straight.

Quite clear you did not read my whole post.
And no Renault is not 100 hp up on Honda

My view for that race is this. First of all, the results were definitely disappointing but totally unrepresentative. There's definitely a lot progress already and more to come. We can see this since in qualy we almost got P8 (if we didn't have time deleted). In race, I agree that the strategy was quite poor. McLaren was begging for rainy conditions and stuff but rain came and acted in the opposite way. I'm quite sure that in this specific race we could have scored points in dry! (I can't believe I'm saying this but yea such the progress is). If they took more risks it would be better but well it wasn't good for both drivers. Alonso was pushing like a madman behind Massa but that mistake cost his race completely. By the way, everyone lost it in that corner but Alonso did in the worst way, he reacted very fast to correct it but the car didn't find any grip to stop the drift like others but spun in an extremely violent way. Maybe he was carrying much more speed. But anyway this killed his race from then. Button climbed a lot considering the strategy and the fact that he was starting so far back thanks to the rear wing issue on Saturday. Anyway, I believe that this was just an unlucky race and more to come. Also, Alonso's 2nd fast race lap time was incredible :O .
ALO was all over MAS I was quite impressed with how good the car looked until he dropped it, looks like the car can be competitive in a race, but its unclear how long they can run at max performance
I think the first few laps behind the safety car and the mixed conditions helped a lot with fuel saving. He was also very close to Hulkenberg. I think they could have had a decent fight with FI if they pitted during the VSC.

Although F1 team radio has been massively restricted in 2016, McLaren’s engineers can still be heard giving orders in codes. These are changed for every event, just in case another team is listening in – secretive indeed.
