i really would like to see that instead of only f1 technical page also a page for Le Mans Prototypes. My interrest in these cars have really grown so i would really like to see such a thing, i know mulsannescorner(good site) but it doesnt tell me half and discussions about those cars rules would imo be far more interresting as lmp allows more.

+1 but we'd need some more admins/moderators for that. And I would concentrate just on LMPs but sportscars in general (i.e. all kinds of prototypes and GTs)

I agree on the technical interest of sportscars and would welcome a discussion board on this subject. However, the threads that were already made concerning those types of racing don't seem to attract a lot of posters.

Isn't the "other racing series" quite appropriate for these discussions?

I too am pretty interested in these cars, but at the moment there aren't many threads...

Exactly, just start a thread for whatever racing series you would like to discuss in the 'other racing series' section.

This is a dedicated Formula One forum afterall!

I'm open to broaden everything up, but we cannot create a seperate forum for 2 threads can we? ;)

Did I put words in your mouth? My point was that there's a thin line to be crossed to make a technical thread into an arguing match between say Taliban and Bavarian Conceptualists. Who's going to read all that stuff to define and sort the technical threads from non-technical ones?
Besides General F1 Chat is all about general chat on f1. A valuable thread doesn't have to be strictly technical.

Pandamod, my point was that threads like the Alonso one push the actual technical threads off the top since they have so much chatter, so they have too much time on the front page. If the recent posts areas was divided into sections than each section would get eyeball time on the front page. Much like Digg or any other aggregating source of news and info, each category gets equal eye time.

I for one would think this site would be better if posts like BAR555's development posts got more eyeballs as opposed to a noob argument.

You didn't put actual words in my mouth, but your comment sort of mooted the idea as not serious just because I am in the midsts of a heater in another thread.

You are assuming too much. Please don't try to read between the lines (and don't twist my nickame, there's always Ctrl+C Ctrl+V if it's too hard for you).
My only point was that your idea would require someone to separate the husk from the grain. Whoever does that, I'm quite sure not everyone will be happy with how it's handled.

There is no need. There are already different categories in the forum, and each one of those could have it's own header.

I'm not actually suggesting someone read all the threads and judge them. There are only 8 categories of posts on the board, and if each category was represented with it's three most recent posts (or other arbitrary number that works), each category would be fairly represented on the home page.

Was playing with your name a bit, wasn't aware we weren't allowed to talk about you changing your name or ribbing you about it. It was meant to be in good fun, and in jest.

Yes, it is and I totally agree with you that the "Other racing series" is adequate for it. I just wished there were more forumers interested on it, that would make logic to have a specific board for it. I'm quite aware that it doesn't work the other way around, that having a specific board for it won't necessarily make people interested.

Tomba you are quite right yes, but what it seems is that most people dont even know that subforum is allowed for such topics. The F1 section is split up in mechanical, earodynamics and general chat, why not do that eitehr with the other race sports forum?

Even though it says the following under the 'Other racing series' banner?
Please discuss here all your remarks and pose your questions about all racing series, except Formula One. Both technical and other questions about GP2, Touring cars, IRL, LMS, ...

There are three things which I like on other boards and would recommend for Tomba's consideration:

1. Posting numbers with URL

This helps in many ways with inter thread quotations. You can tell someone at which post number to search for something and you can even give an URL to click on.

2. Go back to the last used thread or forum button on the bottom of each page.

This helps to get back to the directory of active topics without scrolling to the top of the page. Usually we read at the bottom of a page when we want to go back to a directory or forum.

3. Delete button for double postings while editable

I seem to get a lot of double posts when the board is slow in responding. This would help me clean up when it happens.

What is all that extra white space that appears at the bottom of some users posts, only some of the time.

It seems to be a bug, and independent of whether the person has a sig or not. On this page, dumrick and wesley123 have the Big Nothing there.

I am fine on this page, but on the previous page, the Big Nothing appears again. This post as well, before the edit where this sentence was added.

I think You refer to the situation while text in the post field is short and overall height of the box is smaller than the box containing avatar and user info. This is just the board was constructed in php and I don't see any other possibility except hiding avatar and user info while post is very short.
