I see only silver rim flying up from left wheel at 00:17-00:18 but any "foreign object" on track at this momentFittingMechanics wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:26Anyone watched Vettels crash yesterday? I do not see a foreign object, quite strange, looks like the rim gave way in the corner. Any ideas?

I think what happens is that the left side drops off the tarmac just after he turns the steering. So the left suspension was just starting to load, and all it would take was the grass to be a cm or two lower than the track level and the car would bottom-out just enough to momentarily snap the car loose.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:07
Interesting that it bottomed out just as he turned in. I'm not convinced it was necessarily a "driver error" just that the car was a bit lower than the kerb would allow. Looking at the edge of the track there, lots of people take the same line.
I'm not so sure. But engine failure? No way. It was still running after he crashed. Those are sparks from the floor.selvam_e2002 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 19:14
I don't think so. if you look at the video from formula1.com, there is a fire coming out from backside of the car. May engine failure, due to that he lost the power and control of the care.
Might be. It seems like he bottomed out heavily. Maybe because the left rear plummeted down as it left the elevated kerb.MtthsMlw wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 18:59Yep, Gasly's fault. Went on to the grass at corner entry.

"There is more scope in the variables," complains Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul. "With the larger tank capacity, you can charge up to 20 kilograms in the analyzes. The DRS effect has become much bigger. The differences in the engine programs too. And there's the tire factor, which is hard to read. "
I have compiled this for another forum I am member on. Please note that there might be +/- few laps error as I am compiling those stats when I come home from work and it can be a bit tedious tracking all the laps when teams split their days between two drivers.Mikey05021984 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 21:47Anyone has a list op 'total laps' so far by team?
i wonder wich teams did the most laps so far ...
as almost every team have had there own problems and missed some tracktime ...
According to Sky F1, you missed only a single lap for McLaren. From what I can tell.Cuky wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 21:57I have compiled this for another forum I am member on. He hit the grass a little, car oversteered and he hit the tire barrier with back side of the car.

I agree with this assessment. More or less the same thing happened with Kvyat in Suzuka 2015:matt_s wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:40I think what happens is that the left side drops off the tarmac just after he turns the steering. Maybe with C5 tire, but not with C3 which will the qualifying tire this year. Really hope Pirelli drop the C1 compound, and just have C2-C5 be renamed C1-C4. Much simpler, less waste.MtthsMlw wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:20That's not good. I expect Ferrari to be able to do low 1:15s in a proper quali run.KiLLu12258 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:08Gasly said that they cant do that 16,2 from leclerc with that tyres. They tryed it but they cant just do it at the moment.
