2023 US, Mexico, Vegas and AD all saw Max pit before Leclerc because of slight deg kicking in. Brasil and Bahrain 2024 races can't be taken into account obviously.

The technical departments of Red Bull will also certainly suffer from the war that is happening at the top levels of the organization; I bet the development of the car of Red Bull will suffer in the second part of this year and in 2025 especially.
2025 may be a much better chance for Ferrari than previously thought.
And in 2025 who is at Ferrari?
A certain Lewis that for some reason happens to land always on his feet :lol:

I think the distraction of what is looking like a power war between Marko Verstappen and Horner is interesting, I don’t think it will impact the development of a technically great car. We shouldn’t hope for too much from it.
Ferrari have a lot of refining to do, which is a good thing, as it means development options.
Right now ferrari cant challenge Max, but i dont think tgats a real surprise or shock to anyone.

You have to assume it will be harder for RBR to extraxt even more out of such a refined platform, and that should close the gap. But with RBR you never know

Another note, read somewhere online that Sainz was driving with 39°C fever yesterday. I can only imagine how the stomach pain was in the car... Amazing commitment, loads of respect for him. Hopefully 2 weeks is enough to be ready for Australia.

About Q, before last lap of Q3 when Alonso was 3rd my friends were plethoric, but I was not. I told them to wait for Leclerc last attempt, he´s too good... and he actually jumped both Alonso and Perez... What a great qualifier! =D>


Reading your analysis, it looks like it was more of an awesome lap from Charles, than a Q setup, so it looks good for the race. Hopefully he can push Max and make it interesting :D

I believe missing Sainz forced them to stick with Day 1 setups, I'm sure they wanted to at least try different wing for a bit on track and assess it with either both drivers or make direct comparisons in FP3. This way, they have a wing too big for Jeddah 3rd year in a row... Hopefully Sainz recovers well for Australia, but I think it could take 5-6 weeks before he's back at his full fitness unfortunately.

I mean look at the difference between 2 wings, low-level Spa 23 wing is about the same size as RB low-level wing, it's perfect if you ask me...

Absolutely, summed up nicely. I’m impressed by the work they’ve done. The car is a beast in medium- and high-speed corners as already seen in Bahrain and again confirmed in Jeddah. Not following trends shows confidence in their own ideas and I really like that. Vasseur when asked about their rear wing choice for Jeddah said that they’re doing their stuff and not looking and copying others on the grid. I think that’s an important aspect. Taking ideas/inspirations from others is one thing, but blindly copying (which they don’t do) is another.

Also, Bearman’s confidence in the car and his ability to easily put in fast laps shows the massive improvement in drivability compared to the SF-23, like you mentioned.

I’ve not thought of this detail, that makes sense. I’ve been asking myself why they didn’t at least try the lower DF rear wing as they brought one to the track (as per upgrade list), but Sainz’ sudden missing might have forced them to doing so. This very likely compromised their one lap pace, but I’m looking forward to a strong race pace. Also Leclerc said that he hopes to have a good surprise and challenge the RedBulls in the race.

Likely M - H one stopper. Hopefully no safety car after the first pit stop as could be exposed with others having a second M. Be interesting to see if Alonso starts on the Soft, hopefully can disrupt Perez.

Perez attacking in T1 basically took them both out of the race Max now cruising after breaking the DRS.

The top speed differential is taking the RBs out of it for Ferrari. Was hoping after Perez passed that leclerc would be able to stay within DRS but couldn’t

It’s a long race. We knew coming in that the Red Bulls would be faster in a straight line and over a single lap. Let’s see if there is a meaningful difference in degradation over the next 40+ laps … still have 80% of the race remaining. If the higher DF setup doesn’t pay-off, either the team should reevaluate that decision, or it represents a compromise the team is making (perhaps strengthening the rear-end) while they learn and get familiar with the characteristics of the new car.

Very weird that LEC is so slow in S1 with all that load from the RW
