Haas isn’t that far away though... 0.5 seconds from the GRO isn’t that bad considering that the Haas car suits Melbourne (like last year)... Similar situation to Mercedes, which I don’t believe they really are 0.7 ahead of Ferrari in the rest of the tracksXero wrote:Very impressed with P8! Great result. Got a lot of work to do to close up on Haas though, they look mighty.
Using Mercedes as a reference so it doesn't matter as they all use same tyresMcG wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 09:07Wow good stuff. Are the tyres softer this year though?101FlyingDutchman wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 09:05Yep.
Mercedes 0.7sec faster than last year
MCL 1.2sec faster than last year
Great base of a car to develop on
Maybe, but they’d be softer for everyone so it evens out. Great work by Lando, to quote Fernando, “now we can fight”! Hopefully we don’t come to regret that statement!McG wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 09:07Wow good stuff. Are the tyres softer this year though?101FlyingDutchman wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 09:05Yep.

True, I believe McLaren will be closer on more aero dependant tracks. Still a decent chunk to find though. I also expect McLaren to outdevelop them and most of the midfield, if the car is as good a solid base as it appears.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 09:09Haas isn’t that far away though... 0.5 seconds from the GRO isn’t that bad considering that the Haas car suits Melbourne (like last year)... I agree. Albert Park should also suit the Haas.
