Honda F1 project leader Yusuke Hasegawa has outlined a number of reasons why Honda has been struggling so badly in the beginning of the 2017 Formula One season. He confirmed that lots of problems were not discovered while running on the dynamo meter.
Does anyone know the horsepower figures between engine manufactures for the 2024 season? Who's got the advantage? Any websites or links where one can see the numbers?
There seems to be some difference in sound/tone between the engine manufacturers. David Land who has his own youtube racing channel who is a sideline reporter attended the Las Vegas GP and said the Mercedes sounded the best, that was his opinion obviously.
I would say that sounds has little to do with which one is better. The sound mainly come from the waste gate exits. These were mandated by the FIA to increase the volume of the engine off-throttle.
For some reason, I have received a few DM's in the last week asking some IMO odd questions. I will admit I haven't paid any attention to this forum and very rarely the media. I have had people asking me, "Why is your president saying your struggling with the 2026 PU?" or "Why are you guys in a state of 'kurou"?" ???? We are not in a state of suffering. I also have not heard and find it hard to believe that Watanabe-san would say we are struggling.
Certainly there are constant issues that crop up but I think we are on track for 2026. There is no panic in the atmosphere here. From my standpoint, the biggest challenge for me is addressing the new properties of the 2026 fuel. Maximizing the energy output from the new fuel is task on hand. Overall, the marriage of the new electrical components to the ICE is taking the most effort. Drivability I think will also pose a hurdle that needs to be overcome. I feel good of where we are. Obviously we need to wait until 2026 to see where we are in relationship to the others. I am not worried.
“If Honda does not race, there is no Honda.”
“Success represents the 1% of your work which results from the 99% that is called failure.”

Dear Wazari San, Thanks for the update and clarifications. We are missing your involvement and constant updates on the forum...
Regarding Watanabe, it's this stuff, https://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewt ... 6#p1267086 - a handful of words, said in a second language (or maybe even translated?), by someone from a different culture, being micro-analysed for nuance.
