McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So when this livery reveal came out last week I was quite confused at first when I looked at the car, I realized I had never seen these parts on any previous configurations of the car, this car was in Abu Dhabi on display, a lot of parts on this car are very different conceptually. I'm not saying these are 2023 parts.. but obviously its a different spec of sort.

Not everything is annotated, but if you have a closer look and cross reference, you'll see disparities.

Could it be a Frankencar? I find it hard to believe they would change the suspension for next year.

I think it's a show car, similar to the ones FOM/FIA made available to the teams for display purposes. I remember seeing AM doing a promo with a car that looks similar. Dug up a picture and it certainly looks similar. Not the best angle but the details seem the same

That's probably it, it's way too different to the current car to be another spec. And I doubt they would show their 2023 direction this early.
