No.

Especially not in the race mcmika, they have been nowhere in race. They might be closer in qualy but that too, who knows who will loose more. Ferrari was closer in qualy than in race.
All ferrari powered cars are nowhere in quali but on race days even the Haas has been in top 10 lately. Leclerc has two podiums despite being constantly out qualified by pink Merc, Mclaren. The car is good on tyres and easily overtakes Mclaren even if they cant match them for one lap pace.
I'm curious as to why Merc and Honda needed more time not the other two.

@isopano6 has a great post in general honda forum where he translated latest interview by Asaki who mention that Ferrai engine don't even have a quali map.

Ferrari qualified quite well in Hungary and on race day were lapped. As they have been in Spain as well. Leclerc was quite lucky (and very good) by getting on these podiums. Austria and Silverstone he had just 1 overtake and the rest was due to a risky strategy paying out. A strategy they are forced to use almost. Otherwise little chance to do anything.

You could see Albon trying out two different noses after the start of FP1. Not sure what was different. He was driving around with an aero measurement rack.

It looked like stability should be fine this weekend. So maybe they tweaked something on the front.

Certainly compared to Mercedes the size of the rear wing is a joke.

New improved chassis, or only changed it because something was broken??

They've made updates to the rear suspension, nothing you'd see, and some updates to the chassis, again not something you'd see but the performance is different. Aero bits seem largely unchanged.

That was a good session for RB. Even ALB is closer to VER. Could be an indication that the chassis/suspension updates are paying off.

I certainly think so. They are faster then last year by quite a lot. Ok, it is only Friday but this Is certainly not the norm this year so far. Albon is closer to Max and Albon is closer to the top overall. Tomorrow will be a merc party and even the pink panthers may turn up at the party, but hopefully that will be the last time they simply Boogie woogie away on Saturday Night early.

This smells like one of those situations where Mercedes sand bags a little, either intentionally before a regulation change, or because they put the oldest engine in because of the qualy mode change. Let's see tomorrow.

Mercedes supposedly upgraded the ICE, TC, and MGU-H for this weekend. However, they probably ran spec 1 today, as that's usually what they start doing around this point (7th race) of the season.

It seems a bit crazy.RBR was 1.5 second faster than what they did in last year's FP2,Renault was 2 second faster.Well,I know its just practice.

Max time in fp2 is same like his q3 time last year in SPA.
i think all his previous qualy in 2020 is slower than last year until now , thats encouraging at the least

Yes but Renault is less than a tenth behind, how do you explain that? SOFTER Tyres obviously. Most teams are within a second expect the Ferraris.
Just manage expectations. Competition is still within touching distance.
