Honda Running The VTT (virtual track test)VTT is a high-fidelity simulation environment where teams test car components, engine reliability, and system integration without actually putting the car on a real racetrack.

The vibration issues is harkens back to the Mclaren days.

It is two fold. The engine is producing vibrations at certain frequencies that is causing resonance, or underdamped vibrations at one or more places in the chassis and this is shaking the battery compartment.

Two things can happen: modify the engine to counter vibrations with tuned stiffness in the gears, mounts bearings etc or with dampeners. Could be the MGUK or the oil pump or the cam drive.. Or from combustion.. We do not know.. Or the second thing is obviously to modify the chassis side by either increasing stiffness to raise the naturalfrequency above that of the vibrations from the engine or add a few dampers here and there.

Both solutions will not be trivial!
Today is last day for homologation, if they didn't fix vibration, you think they could finish races? Does FIA allow to make corrections on engine/battery before race 6?

so you can do what/when ever you want if is not reliable?
Who deicide if this is performance or reliable problem?

As long as it is a legitimate reliability issue, then you can make modifications for reliability purposes. It is a gray area.

The number of posts in this forum for AMR is more than the number of laps the team has managed in their entire 2026 pre season tests

The FIA does, but they state in the regulations that they may send the proposed changes to all the other manufacturers for verification. There is also pressure on the other manufacturers to approve reliability updates, because if the manufacturer requesting the changes falls 2% or 4% behind in performance, they will be allowed to bring significantly more resources to bear on the project.

The main pressure is other manufacturers rejecting your own request when your turn comes ( a.k.a mutually assured destruction). Honda can always put themselves into ADUO status at any time by choosing to operate the PU at a level 2% below the others.

I don't think that's the main source of pressure. Honda could just run low conservative engine tunes to get ADUO after 6 races if they really wanted it. The main pressure is other manufacturers rejecting your own request when your turn comes.
I agree that is also pressure. Not sure if one is greater or lesser. Just happy there are more options and therefore makes it more difficult to keep a manufacturer down using the regs.

The K can hardly be the origin. There's nothing to vibrate there. The ICE inherently vibrates, so it's likely transmitted to the battery. Whether it vibrates more then intended is a question mark.

They have no say in it. It's completely the FIA's decision.

I think the idea of ADUO is much overrated. It basically allows additional structural changes, while the most performance relevant parts are anyways in the update schedule for 27 and 29.
If someone is 4% behind, I strongly doubt they can recover it with ADUO. Even if we have a structural trick implemented with the CR discussions, it will need substantial time to get this right and in the best case they come to the same power as others.

Then everyone can improve engine during year in the name on "reliability"

Huugh!!

Reconsider what u just said.... Reallly reconsider.. U really don't have the tools to say this.
And vibrations work as a whole. Eveyrthing has to be considered together.

Remember this vibration was unforseen!!
