Anyone has any idea why it sounds so different? I heard the better sounding a engine is, the less efficient it is.
Is it the case here?
Well it's not louder. It is just a "warmer" and higher pitched Exhaust Tone. You can definitely tell from the Sound alone when a Honda comes around. I like it.

You can't presume that the the rest of the car (excluding the rear wing) generates the same down force as others. Williams have lacked mechanical grip for years. More rear wing is a way to get some extra rear down force.

that why redbull is such an efficient chassis they generate efficient downforce through the floor section getting better downforce efficiency, and not by have to run a bigger rear wing, the bigger rear wings of the williams and mclaren will cause inefficient drag and kills the top speeds, and especially in spa or monza, top speeds are very important.

I don't know why they still come up with these speeches. I've lost count of the times they said something similar only to show little to no improvement at all after running the "non conservative" modes. If they still have performance to unleash, just do it and we'll see it by ourselves, no need to announce it in advance.

I think it's quite normal to not push it from the first moment. I also think you realise that. So what do you expect him to say? Also, you can't deny they have made progress.

So is it pre chamber TJI upgrade or not?
I guess we will see how much they turn it up in Qualis....Alonso said yeaterday they only run it in conservative mods and todays time is slower than yesterdays best time.
EDIT: i also read on other forum Sky Italia said engine will be on "full power" only 3 times this GP...i am guessing Q1,2,3

When they should start pushing or not is up to themselves, they have plenty of people good enough to decide that. What I'm saying is that they always have that speech of "more performance to come" when a lot of times that extra performance simply doesn't come that easy.
I think you can see by what happened just now that it would be better if they'd just let the performance show on track rather than making optimistic statements that they can't always fulfill.

Comeon, P9 in a circuit like Spa....Power hungry circuit.
Mclaren has now clearly overtaken Torro Rosso...Will beat williams for sure in circuits like Singapore.
Looks like the engine update is working.

Great job by JB and McLaren. Only 1.4 seconds off pole on such a long and power dependent track.

Think Paul is talking about Q2- McLaren set their laps on supersofts whilst some others used softs such as Mercedes, Ferrari and Ricciardo

Top speed looks good...middle of the field. 336 vs 342km/h. Ahead of the Renault PUs.
But the Speed trap shows Mclaren is 10kph down...Looks like Honda has more top end.
Never Give up.
