Yes, he would. That was my whole point. After all, it was Button who ran into the back of an HRT, and yet you have the audacity to claim Hamilton has been inconsistent. LOL.

SO, if Lewis was in a Mercedes, he would have won races this year? Really?

People you can debate whether or not LH deserves No1 status at McLaren all they like but it's irrelevant but Mclaren don't do it.. period so it won't ever happen.

I'd put my money on Rosberg beating Hamilton in China if they were both in a Mercedes; the guy seems to do exceedingly well at that track for some reason.

Hang on, I thought we were comparing consistency and also comparing his performance against Button. When did Merc come into this all of a sudden?

You have done absolutely nothing to substantiate your claims that Hamilton has been erratic. You're just shifting goalposts to suit your agenda.

You have completely ignored my previous post.
Care to explain how Hamilton has more inconsistent than Alonso this year. I am guessing you are taking mclarens pit stop mistakes, refuelling issue which cost him the pole and at least a podium and people running into him as signs of hamiltons inconsistency. really clutching at straws there lol. As for vettel don't make me laugh. Where exactly is he in the championship points.

It has always been a thread about "will Lewis leave for Mercedes"

Hamilton, as a team member of McLaren, wins as a team and loses as a team. So, yes, any mistakes made by the team as a whole are part of my judgement.

The point of the thread, if Lewis goes to Mercedes.... Will he win 20 races in 6 years? Will he have a better and more productive time?

1: Yes, but if he pulls his finger out.
2: No, as the sum total of Mercedes and Hamilton is less than A.N.Other at McLaren.

Re his consistency vs Button - the stat nerds will produce anything you like - but my reckoning of it is that they are pretty much equal? Considering your obvious bias, I assume you think Lewis should/would have annihilated Button..?

Hakkinen was granted undisputed no 1 status when it became clear Coulthard wasn't going to be able to pull it off. You know what ? It worked.

Besides, it wasn't like Coulthard only stayed out of Mika's way. He helped Mika massively towards winning the title by causing Schumacher to dnf out of a certain victory. But that's not expected of Button, yet he thinks it's ok to take points from Hamilton if the opportunity arises. But I could be wrong. Let's wait and see.

Perhaps Whitmarsh is hedging his bets on whether or not Hamilton is moving teams? ie "if you're moving teams, I'd rather not win the WDC than let you take the number 1 away from me"

Even Briatore didn't do that lol. And we know what kind of a person he is... The only difference of course, Alonso was his man. But he must've been pissed to a degree when he found out Ferdi was leaving for McLaren...

You forget he was (and is, I believe) Alonso's manager. Alonso winning the WDC, whether or not he stayed with Benetton, would have benefitted Briatore. He would probably been the first person to know about Alonso to McLaren, given his job as the manager

Please let us know how Hamilton has been erratic compared to Alonso this season.

Raymondu that's what I meant by saying 'his man'. And no, Briatore neither brokered his deal with Macca nor had any knowledge beforehand. He wasn't happy at the time but even a man like Briatore didn't prevent one of his drivers from winning the title just because he was leaving at the end of the season. If Whitmarsh prevents Hamilton from winning should he decide to leave... It's just conjecture. He must truly despise Hamilton to do that sort of thing.

I'm not saying prevented - but rather, it gives Whitmarsh no incentive to favor Hamilton (as in team orders for Button)

Well, it's kind of 'preventing in a polite way', given how Hamilton's chief rivals enjoy undisputed no 1 status within their respective teams

They would do it if Hamilton was as good as Vettel or Alsono (compared to his teammate). Apparently it's hard to accept for some but he simply isn't as good as those 2. It's even doubtful that he's really better than Button, let alone "clearly better".
"There is a credit card with the Ferrari logo, issued by Santander, which gives the scuderia a % of purchases made with the card...

I would guess that such a serious amount of money would allow them to ignore the constant complains of a car that was nowhere near as bad as their #1 driver tried to sell throughout the season.

Heck, a car on which Massa finishes in the podium or has to lift so that his teammate finishes ahead (As we saw often in the final races of the year) is, by no means, a "bad" car."
