L’EQuipe reporting RBR-Honda deal done. Will be announced this week.

I am excited. I want Ricciardo to win WDC!
I'm impressed by the work Honda has done lately. Definitely big improvement. Do you think that Honda is the engine to have rather than Renault next year?
As much as it hurts me accept this as a Fernando fan, yes. A works Honda engine > customer Renault. They finally seem to have got it right in terms of reliability.

Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Too early? They're still finishing the season with Renault. RB knows what it's doing, TR feedback should give them realistic feedback and expectations.

don't think it will end well but great courage by RB. =D>
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

RedBull aren't stupid, they've had all the data they need from TR to make this decision. Clearly Honda are close enough in parity with Renault or they wouldn't have taken the leap.

After the horror of McLaren, I would not be surprised if Honda not RB halted this deal until now, with rumours surfacing a couple of months ago about Honda not being sure about how supplying a team like RB would affect the development process of the engine, given the requirements of a championship contender. My guess is this'll mean RIC will stay as well. Or put differently; if he stays, we know the Honda might be better than we think.

Also, a Honda partnership opens a lot of doors for the team and the drivers. Honda was instrumental in Alonso's Indy 500 jaunt because of HPD's partnership with Andretti.

It's lucrative in a lot of ways.
Also positive Honda and RB are both Exxon Mobil partners. None of this wrong fuel rubbish

What is interesting to me is that only 2019 and 2020 are specifically mentioned for the Partnership. One would think a quasi Works Deal would be longer Term.

If everything goes well, I'd expect an extension into the new Formula. McLaren only signed with Renault until then..
Or maybe keeping options open for an Aston engine debut in 2021. Who knows.

I think that's pretty much what most people were expecting, a short term deal to leave Red Bull's options open for 2021, it's by no means certain that the engine regulation changes will bring in new manufacturers though. So I'd guess Red Bull will have an option to extend the contract with Honda.
