2-3 tenths from engine according to Mekies. Another 2-3 tenths from weight. It's a good step compared to the other races. They can resolve the weight issue but the engine side will wait until next year.

I can't decide if it's positive or negative that Hadjar is a 1 second behind. :?

Yes but that's considering Verstappen's time. I think in reality the car is as fast as we can see with Hadjar. It's just that Verstappen is driving in another dimension. Still massive improvement compared to previous qualys.

it's the first time this year that Verstappen is fast in qualifying, so maybe the rule changes are paying off a bit already.

The high(er) speed corners are really their weakness now, losing more than half a second in the first sector.
Which is funny, as that was always (even during the worst patches in the GE era) the strength.

In the ground effect era they were literally floor merchants. They got it working well over a lap pretty much all throughout. They didn't do wing trickery than others and took a while for them to catch on. Right now it should be more straightforward in general I think.
