Ferrari looks to have beaten McLaren-Honda to the reborn Manor team's door.

with the former Marussia team exiting administration, McLaren could play a role in the resurrection of the backmarker.

Ron Dennis was keen to emulate Ferrari's new alliance with the 2016 entrant Haas in terms of having a de-facto 'B-team'.

Bach said Manor might nominate Woking as the venue for its wind tunnel programme, while the McLaren supremo is reportedly "trying to convince Honda" to supply the team with engines.

But Ferrari, despite being owed millions by Marussia, appears to have beaten McLaren-Honda to Manor's door.

The fabled Maranello team's new boss Maurizio Arrivabene told reporters on Friday that, just like last year, Marussia will in 2015 be supplied customer models of the 2014 'power unit'.

"There is nothing in writing at the moment," said the Ferrari chief in Barcelona, "but our answer at the moment is yes - (the) 2014 (engine)," said Arrivabene.
So, bad news for Ron Dennis i guess. It would have been a great benefit for Mclaren having a b-team driving around that can be used as a rolling laboratory to improve the Honda engine in-season and deal with some issues they have.
"Explain the ending to F1 in football terms"
"Hamilton was beating Verstappen 7-0, then the ref decided F%$& rules, next goal wins
while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"

Warum? Wieso? Weshalb? - Unsere Motoren-Story liefert die Antworten.

They will get 2 more days to get the engine homologated

It wouldn't have only helped Honda develop the PU quicker but it also would have given McLaren a B team to keep Kevin Magnussen's hand in and Honda love having a Japanese driver on their books so they could have got a few quid of Kobaycrashi too
Just a fan's point of view

Think McLaren will be glad this test is over now, apart from the one day where they did 60 Lap's it hasn't gone to plan with the car. I wouldn't like to speculate if something failed on the car prior to Alonso's accicent, either way I think all in all a week to forget for McLaren. Need to have a serious sit down with Honda and see what need's to be done to get the engine to run for more than a few lap's at a time. Failing that I think McLaren will be using Melbourne as a test not a grand prix!

Those two days could be essential and change everything. If they can run normaly in the last test with a new updated engine they could homologate it with no problems.

But there is a great pressure if something doesnt work and they cant run, Mclaren and Honda will be in trouble.

Honda president was forced to resign today. In his place it was appointed a low profile engineer which worked for Honda in China. Will this affect Honda's involvment in F1 in the near future? :(

Because of the Takata airbags problem. Takata is the airbag supplier for many car manufacturers, but none was as affected as Honda, with 5,4 million cars wich had to be inspected

low profile engineer ... is a little off the mark.
As changes in the Japanese and global markets force Honda to become less focused on Japan, Hachigo brings ample international experience to the job. He started his career at Honda in 1982 as a chassis design engineer in Honda’s automobile research and development department. In the 1990s he was assigned to Honda’s North American operations where he headed the development of the first generation of U.S. built Odyssey minivans, launched in 1999. With the success of the Odyssey, he was promoted to senior VP of Honda R&D Americas, localizing Hondas and Acuras for the American and Canadian markets. After a stint back in Japan in r&d, purchasing and then managing the Suzuka assembly plant, in 2012 he was named VP and director of Honda Motor Europe, later heading Honda’s European r&d center in the UK. Since 2013, he’s been in China, running Honda’s r&d, purchasing and motor technology team in that important market.

Next test if Alonso can't run we'll have 4 days for Button, or will Magnussen get some time?

Guess Magnussen will get some time. On the one hand, because that's why they have him and on the other hand due to feedback being more diverse.
