Just bizarre, George has the radio warning, and a perfect line of sight of the two cars ahead the entire way. He chooses to increase his speed, rather than the cars ahead slowing down. Never leaves the track, never comes within 5 metres of Verstappen. Then after he passes, he proceeds to go even slower than Verstappen and Alonso were, on the racing line.
It's worst than i thought, dumber than i thought.

Also Russell pointing out that Verstappen was "on the racing line", Russell made sure to catch Verstappen in triple apex narrow corner... there's simply no way for Max to stay safely to the side, at some points he'll cross into the racing line inevitably.
It's so weird that it looks like an intentional cheeky move.

And the stewards are ridiculous for penalyzing Max for that.

"Car 1 drove unnecessarily slowly on a cool down lap."

Stewards couldn't even get the facts straight in their ruling. Points for whoever sees it.
Dont sweat it, wasnt that long ago, the FIA forgot that all drivers should be treated as equals, edited rules, and didnt apply them correctly, and then made up a new rule just to give max a title.

Losing a place in a q sessions is small beans in comparison.

2021 was long ago but #stillwecry
What happened in abu dhabi 2021 is off topic.
The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

Race directors and stewards making up BS rules on the fly was wrong in Abu Dhabi 2021, and it was wrong yesterday.

What's so difficult about being able to admit that?

Ask Mosin, he seems to be fully onboard with the steward's decision.

driving slowly on the racing line isnt a new made up rule, how it was implemented maybe, But, its tiny beans in comparison, yet, Mercades fans like me ( LH fans ) and other fans, are told to lump it cause Masi can do wtf he likes. Now its on the other foot, and its so so so so so tiny in comparison, Max fans are all enraged how unfair blah blah blah........... Stewards can decide what they like. just like Masi can do what he likes, dont like tough, its what every one who didnt like the unsporting nature of 21 was told and still are, by Max fans..

I guess you will be able to provide probably over 100 examples from warm up/cooldown laps where every car not on a hot lap kept away from the racing line?

I feel your pain, but it's been 3 years, you need to move on. We can disagree about a decision, but I will not call a race outcome illegitimate because of a decision I don't like. Like today, if George wins, I would never call that an illegitimate result just because a ruling that I disagree with played a role. A thousand other things would also play a role.

My criticism is simply about the decision itself, it made no sense and there's no way they can maintain that precedent.

i said how it was implemented was odd, but it is a rule. if the stewards want to enforce it, they can, it is upto them after all.

It is still a rule. its not like they took the championship from him and gave the title to Lando, while breaking loads of rules, manipulating some others, and then not even allowing the 18 cars behind to even race...

As i said, small beans.

Yes you can, you can see George doing it in the video linked, right after passing Verstappen. As well as every other driver, every quali. Don't impede people on fast laps.
