I don't think that's an inlet. That's the side of the monocoque. Looks like shadow. The sanding or glue gives it an outline.

The top image has some anomalies /compression artifacts indicative of a screenshot from a moving picture. Look to the left of where it looks like the lower inlet might end and you can see a vague line suggesting the inlet extends but is compressed into a vague blur

He is right though. Take a look at this clearer image of the old sidepod inlet. The lower lip - like the top leading edge and the entire inlet - is swept back, but it has a continuous arc like it's drawing a circle with a set radius, while the new one has a clear discernible brake in it's curve:
