Hello all. I'm Rich, a Postgraduate student in engineering down in Devon. Big fan of motorsport for many years now, hoping that my experience in CFD software might help me get into it in the future!

Hi guys,
I'm Sam from the UK and recently back from a 6 month trip to Spain (costa del crime  ) which was absolutly awesome... :) ! I'm a long time reader of this site but only recently felt the fear to join and started making my own contribution to the very extensive forum. I'[m a McLaren man through and through, and I have a thirst surrounding the technical and aero side of formula 1 hence im on this site!....Greatings to all from a very rainy England...

Hi all!
I'm a 23 years old Frenchy living near Nice (so please forgive my bad english  ).
I discovered this site several months ago but I never register until now!

I follow F1 since I'm born I think, but my real first racing memory is Alain Prost fourth title in 93. At this time, I didn't understand why the guy on the 3rd place was the winner  My second memory is Imola 94

I'm not a fan of a team in particulary but if I'll have to choose I'd say McLaren and Williams.
The only driver I really (really really) like is Raikkonen, but he's kissing Swedish snow at this time (and I can't see that, damn french TV!).
I respect the others drivers and admit their great skills (especially Hamilton Vettel and Alonso's skills) but not the same feeling... I just hope USF1 will build a car for Jose Maria Lopez because he's a great driver and a great guy too.

Me too. You know, its really really hard for a guy arround here to get a chance in F1, for many many reasons. I will be very sorry if Jose´s chance gets blown by his team and I hope he can show what hes got.

Hey, Thought i should post something here just so im not a total stranger as i feel as if i know alot of the members on here so well. I've been reading this forum religiously for quite some years now but havn't bothered to post amoungst all very knowledgeable members.

I'm Mick, a proud Melbournian, I've attended every single Melbourne GP, rain hail or shine, and a majority of practice / qualifying days. Been following formula one for as long as i can remember, sitting up late with my dad watching Mansell and Senna and even a rising Mr Schumacher. I'm currently studying computer science with a particular interest in networking...but my greatest interest outside of IT is motor sport and the engineering involved, i can't begin to quantify how much i've learned from the members contained in this great forum.

My favorite drivers range from Nuvolari and Brabham in the early days, to Gille Villeneuve, Jones, Senna, Villeneuve Jr and yes you guessed it Mark Webber.

Sir Jack Brabham and Colin Chapman are the heros of formula one in my book.

jeeze i could ramble on for pages but ill leave it at that.

thanx for a great forum Tomba, very much appreciated from this end :)

Hi, I'm Mat. I work in academia studying the hydrodynamics of marine energy extraction devices and I'm just about to submit my (long slaved over) PhD.

I've been watching F1 for over 20 years now and have always been keen to learn more about the technical side of things, but the ITV and BBC technical features can't teach me anything new any more.

So here I am. :)

In addition: if anyone is interested in the work we do, this is our research consortium website:

Hi!

I'm Jaxxtec, based in Dubai. My specialization is in Elastomers. (Mech Eng UCL & Masters in Polymer Eng. at UMIST). I am working with a local company as well as conducting research along with Bayer Material Science on an exciting family of Elastomers called Polyurethane and hope to have my first patents by the end of the year.

I compete in lots of Endurance kart races and have finished second in the local championship last year.
My hobby is developing Environmental Friendly systems, and am preparing design specs for my own Electric Car with 4 in-wheel Electric motors and batteries)
Off-topic, But I am also a Music Producer and so can contribute something related to sound and vibration.

I've been following Formula one for quite a while, tho my memory isn't the best. I usually support the underdog team/driver and for the past 2 years its been Red bull & Sebastian Vettel.

I have been following f1technical for the past few months, but haven't posted anything because most of the discussion was focussed on Fluid Mechanics which I am not an expert in. However this year I feel that the team that manages their tyres best may come up top, so I feel I have something that I can contribute =D.

Bear with me as I drop my little additions.

Hi

I'm an electronic engineer currently working for a telecommunications company. My love for F1 started in 1988 when I accidentally switched the TV on when a race was on. I got hooked immediately and love the sport! :)

Hi, my name is Rich,

I've been a fan of f1 since 1992. I'm a passionate fan of Ferrari since the dark days of the early 90s and Michael Schumacher, so I have a bit of a dilemma this year!

What hooked me to F1 was the intoxicating sounds, the fierce sparks that used to spray everywhere seeing the energy the cars. Aerodynamics has always fascinated me too

Hi all,

My name is Tom, and I'm from the Netherlands. I am a student in mechanical engineering. And when it comes to the "creme de la creme" in engineering, who could ever deny f1? I've been hooked ever since I witnessed an f1 demo at our local racetrack somewhat 15 years ago. Have been reading for quite a while now here at f1tech, finally signed up to probably ask some additional questions whenever I see an interesting topic I want to learn more about! (and that happens pretty often :-P)

Regards.

Hey all,

I'm Vitor, 24, from Portugal. I'm studying with a group developing CFD software for wind power prediction. Being a Mechanical Engineer I'm extremely interested in anything motor sports, particularly F1.
I think I'm relatively unbiased in my perspective of F1, but I do tend to cheer for the reds :P

I've been viewing the forums for over a year now, but finally decided to join and start to chip in with whatever knowledge a youngin' like me may have gathered
Hope to have some good talks with y'all and learn as much as possible with some of the trully knowledgeable heads that gather around here.

Cheers all!

Re: Introduce yourself here

Hi all,

I've been on this site for a while now but thought I would introduce myself as I have not really got into posting on here yet.

I'm Andrew and am from Scotland. I don't have an engineering background so you'll have to excuse my lack of eningeering know-how at times. But being a Building Surveyor, if you want any advise on the pit buildings, I'm the guy to ask! :D

I'm a Ferrari fan (but not happy at them recruiting Alonso) and a Schumacher fan. Also a fan of Force India and really want them to win a race this year.

I started paying attention to F1 in 94, though my Dad has been a keen F1 fan since before I was a twinkle in my Grandfathers eye so I have probably been watching F1 since the early 80s. I really miss the F1 of the mid 90s when cars could get close to each other and overtake. I am hopeful that Jean Todt is the man to bring some real change to F1.

Cheers all. :)

Hi all!

I'm just a big F1/MS/Ferrari fan. Yeah I know I have a dillema now ... to support MS or Ferrari? :) MS - WDC, Ferrari - WCC. How does it sound? :)

I've been watching F1 since '93 ... and I laughed at MS then. :)

P.S.: I support Massa over Alonso :)
