With DRS RB is still competitive, so it's mitigated to some extent on quali runs. They still lose time before DRS can be opened, that's clear to see on the S2 straight in the telemetry.euv2 wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 21:42I have only seen the deficit in races, in qualy the Honda engine does keep up but yeah, I do think the Merc is the better engine now. We'll see if the trend of the Honda PU not reaching peak performance in race holds up here, 2 long straights should give us good insights.
We don't know the fuel load. Track was cooling. His run was later than the others. There are many factors in it.

This chart is not reliable. Red Bull does not have a higher non-DRS speed than Mclaren with that rear wing. The editor often uses bad data points or data points that lack context of engine modes, slips streams, and so on.euv2 wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 22:14

Oddly RB21 has the lowest DRS delta here whereas it has usually been on the other end of the spectrum.
Yeah, something didn't seem right, too far off the norm for RB.AR3-GP wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 22:15This chart is not reliable. Red Bull does not have a higher non-DRS speed than Mclaren with that rear wing.euv2 wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 22:14

Upgrade not for any specific corner type.“We understand what’s happened but actually affecting a cure is not that straightforward. It may never disappear from the car.
“Can we reduce the magnitude, improve the lap time? Yes. There’s a lot of clever people in Milton Keynes who are working hard to improve step and it will come.”
Monaghan added that the upgrades, if optimised, should add speed through all corner variations for Red Bull.
“It will get us at the majority of them,” he said.
“Anytime you have a change of speed from the point you hit the brake to turn into the apex, everybody’s going to get it.
“Then it’s just the magnitude we argue over. It will come as incremental improvements and we’ll chip away. We’ll get quicker, don’t worry.”
Track temp was 38 at the beginning and 49 just before the red flag

I think he also said recently something like adding 2 tenths of lap time is basically like adding one to two hundredths every corner over a roughly 15 to 20 corner track. I guess this upgrade can give them that.AR3-GP wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 22:24Monaghan interview continued
