2017 fastest = Kyvat at 1:13.690
2018 fastest = Hartley at 1:12.635
That is over a 1 second improvement and had gasly not qualified on his old engine it might have been even faster.
Sauber had a significant amount of time to make up but even then leclerc is clearly faster then ericsson. Ericsson was slower in 2018 then in 2017 but leclerc was nearly 1.6 seconds faster in Q1 then him which shows what a difference a good driver can make.
Mclaren is a 1:13.693 vs 1:12.856 in comparison of 2017 to 18. That is only a 0.8 tenths improvement.
Red Bull is a 1:12.4 vs 1:10.937 which means max would have qualified ahead of Fernando with his slower 2017 car in 2018.
