Indeed. Everyone was very close. Even Max with Hadjar were 1 tenth apart. As for the race I hope Mclaren has better race pace than qualifying pace and we at least try to keep 3rd and 4th. However considering yesterday I am not confident we will keep our places in the huge straights. But I will be content if we get a good result in the sprint.

People mistake this track as simple because the fewer number of corners. This track is highly technical with important medium speed corners and critical traction zones which are hard to nail. Its usually the type of things that really make the good platforms shine while punishing weaknesses.

It is also why the midfield is further behind here.
The midfield isn't further away. Lindblad was up in the top 7 through SQ2. The total field spread in SQ1 was just 2 seconds. In Miami it was 3 seconds.

There's something strange going on this weekend because the average teammate gap is under half a tenth and most teams line up 2 by 2. It's like the drivers are passengers, somehow.
Lindblad was an outlier who did very well in quali. Look at the gaps in the sprint.

A great masterclass driving from Lando Norris in my opinion going toe to toe with faster cars but I don't think he will be able to pass Russell. The Mercedes are faster in top speed and as you can see it's impossible even with straight mode.

Still very good racing going with Russell till the end putting some pressure on him to make a mistake.

Starting to look like Mclaren don’t have the ultimate pace but they have a very raceable car. Let’s hope it’s good in the wet!!

Probably because the new upgrade is best to be used with the new front wing and we are going with the old one yet.

I have been suspecting this since pre season testing, but some people did not like hearing this.

Could it be their short 8th gear?

Could be related, I don't know how it all fits together but Lando's top speed was really bad and that's why he couldn't pass Russell.

Can't the team change the gearing?

Some food for thought. Considering Russell punted Kimi off the track on the chicane do you think he should be penalized so Norris could take first? Kimi was in control of his car and he had the right of the corner.
