Which is what happened due to slow drivers sitting in the last corners “trying to not impede”.

The new rule is working, drivers are no longer causing a major blockade in the final sector but are driving to a delta calculated to get them to the 2nd safety car line on or below the required time as set by the race director, however whilst keeping to their delta they occasionally have to slow a little to let a faster car through, so as not to impede them by being on a corner apex etc., which results in them going over the maximum permitted time allowed.

See below for the official stewards decision today
Decision No further action.

Reason The Stewards thoroughly reviewed Marshalling/Positioning data, timing data, on-
board cameras and CCTV cameras for every incident.

All drivers concerned stayed at or above speeds necessary to stay below 1:56.0
around the vast majority of the circuit. However, in all cases the Stewards
determined that the drivers took appropriate actions to not impede other drivers,
and in all cases they either slowed down significantly to allow other drivers to pass
while giving those drivers a clear track or otherwise drove in a sensible manner to
avoid any potentially dangerous incidents on track. The Stewards therefore
determine that all drivers concerned did not drive “unnecessarily slowly”, and that
evidently the reason they were above the maximum time was due to their
appropriate actions and take no further action.
The Stewards note that the intention of the delta time regulation is to reduce the
chance of dangerous impeding incidents on track. This intention is taken into
account when investigating such incidents and the Stewards acknowledge that the
regulation is working well for this purpose. However, all teams and drivers are
reminded that the latitude extended in these particular incidents cannot be used as
a general excuse for not complying with the delta time requirement.

We have 4 drivers, in 4 different teams, within a tenth of pole in a qualifying session, and yet the discussion has torpedoed into absolute mud slinging. Can we just enjoy the fact that the field is converging, at a circuit that has a great mix of low, medium, and high speed corners, and requires a good amount of aero efficiency?
Well said that man =D>

The margins are paper thin and we have a great race to look forward to, its a pity the coversation falls to such a base level again, some people just can't help themselves

Track temperatures should be lower in right?
Maybe the wear wont be too bad.
Max was saying the tyres have to be managed. But how can you manage a 19 lap sprint race? You can only do that if you have a pace advantage, so i think Norris, hamilton, leclerc will have to push to stay ahead of each other and pray the tyres last. Theyre virtually equal.
For Sure!!

Managing is valid for all. If you fall off a cliff with 4 laps to go you simply can’t be pushing. But how much life is there. No one really knows.

You would think after all these years that F1tv could figure out how to sync the race broadcast with the onboards...I never liked having to cover my screen with the onboards so I don't see the start from someone's onboard before its shown in the broadcast.

Max pretty comfortable now. Max, Lewis and then Charles. Can’t see that top changing

Apart from Sainz soft option, not much action created in comparison to Qatar

It is, somehow I missed this change, but not too strange given how sprint rules change in some way almost every week..

Taken away some excitement for tomorrow. Nobody touching Max. McLaren and Ferrari slow.
