Toro Rosso STR6 Ferrari

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I've been enjoying your blogs, but lately it seems to be filled with press releases from teams, mostly Sauber. I'm not quite sure if that's the sort of direction your blog should take, but that's just my opinion.

Posting tech updates is the major direction of the blog and that is understood already by visitors i think . Press releases are hosted only to offer info to F1 fans non related to Technical info and also to fill the "non active days" as i have little time to post tech articles every day .Thanks for your opinion though .You know i am not paying to host the blog . I run it on my free time and it is really a burden hard to bear. Furthermore i have constructed a useful category diagram for each team to make it easier to find what update you seek ( front wings, diffuser, car cooling updates etc) separated from press releases  .

Just don't take photos from Sutton images and post them as your own - as a certain other member with a technical blog does on here  He's facing some reprimanding as we speak. I hope he doesn't get charged with plagiarism..

I remember how I was slaughtered on here, for saying information from this site or other sides should always be credited. OK enough information for now.. don't wanna rock the boat. If you wanna hear more just check twitter.

Bar555, do you still make the car update threads? or are you waiting till end of season?

This car was much interesting during pre-season

But finally do you think has their double floor given them real advantages
and will be used next year by top teams ?

Yeah, the car was 3rd in pre-season I heard, but seriously the car hasn't stagnated, it just hasn't been developed, there could be plenty to come from the car but with Toro Rosso it just won't be developed as fast as other teams, this was there problem from the birth. When the updates come, they could very well spring a surprise, but thats if their updates are enough to level them with the playing field.

STR6 twin floor is a clear advantage on the rear aerodynamics of a car , so the L-shaped Mc Laren sidepods . Unfortunately packaging issues and the raised COG are some of the disadvantages of STR6 project . Whether teams will follow STR6 , MP4/26A or even the very clear and tight sidepods of Red Bull RB7 has to been seen yet .

I'm not confident of exactly which bit of the car we're looking at here. I assume it's the floor and that that's the exhaust, but I can't tell where it is on the floor, or what's going on with it.

We are looking at the floor and exhaust like you say. Towards the nearside rear wheel area.

The neck of the exhaust that is sticking out of the floor, is pointing towards the OUTSIDE. It will connect to the exhaust manifold which points INSIDE.

The flat section in front of the image is the centre of the floor.

That makes a bit more sense – though I'm not really sure I can gain anything from the image.

It looks like it separates into two different pipes? Am I seeing that wrong?
